Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon shareholders- save your money and invest in 5G and IOT

Verizon shareholders, it is time to see savings. First step is done by Verizon by selling Yahoo;it is the right way to give breathing power to ailing business. Remove corruption by removing termites sitting at high posts.

  1. Outsource major IT operations to manged services.Good customer service is the foundation of any company. Outsourcing it to companies overseas allows a company to offer 24 hours availability. It will include on-demand model and control the cost substantially. T mobile(Sprint) and AT&T having its major IT work done by a managed company from more than 15 years and very successful.

When projects are outsourced, companies can give away the liability and risk associated with the task.

  1. Outsourcing can also improve the efficiency of business operations. If your business is more efficient it can only increase in its function. This opens the door to bigger expansion and new ideas.
  2. The down side to growth is the need for more things need to be done. Outsourcing to someone and allowing them to handle your back-office operations and administrative work prevents a company from investing time and energy that is needed for more important functions.
  3. Lower cost is one of the primary reason businesses decide to outsource. It allows the business to get the work done for a fraction of the price. It also allows a business to skip costs such as health insurance and vacation pay. Many people choose offshore outsourcing because they receive quality at a much lower price. It has been researched and on average, a company can save about 60% in operational costs with an outsourced individual.
  4. Move US folks from high pay areas(EastCoast, WestCoast-NY,NJ,CA...) to low pay areas of TX and FL.AT&T recently had done it and got tremendous success with it.
  5. When you are hiring for a business it can be a challenge to find good people with skilled expertise to do the work at a reasonable rate. Outsourcing allows companies to be free from the hassle of in house hiring while getting an expert in the field.
  6. There can be some challenges to the time zone difference but in the long run it has a great benefit. Even when a business is closed the work is still getting done and productivity is always moving forward. Of course it goes without saying this increase a company’s revenue if you are managing it in the right way.

Verizon India if not managed services should be made as the major hub of IT.

1000% agree with those other posts. VZ India is worthless and should be disbanded. They are the #1 reason why we have IT layoffs in the first place. And they don’t have a clue what is best for Verizon sales employees who use our Point Of Sale systems nor How American customers use our online VZW.com systems
Quality from them is poor. Production defects have never been higher. Sales Reps and Customers are very upset. Sales are falling. Customer Service calls are up. All due the Poor Quality we receive from them. Disband VZ India immediately.

The best option is to cut VZ India completely out of the Picture. Use only onshore American workers living in the States. And stop using contractor vendors like InfoSys and Cognizant . Quality will go way way way up if this happened.

I think the Quality of VZ India is Poor. How are they to know what is best for end users using the system, when they have Never been in a Verizon store nor have Interacted one on one with any Verizon store reps who use our systems???? 8000 Miles Away.

The cost of delay and rework due to poor quality is a bigger expense than any initial savings. If I have a $40M project and it's delayed by 1 month, and I paid the team 60% of the U.S. rate, did I really save any money?

Additionally it ki--s the team environment due to constantly rotating bodies. Good, high producing teams are stable teams. How can you expect a team to perform well when they are sitting in different time zones?

The amount of completed high quality work is what brings the company value, not the ability to throw a couple extra bodies at the work. Flow is the name of the game. Since we outsourced the IT functions as are simply not completing as much work.

  4. They take days iff all the time when are needed
  5. They are not passionate about their work
  6. They look forward to going home as soon as they arrive
  7. They have no clue what end users needs are
  8. They think they are superior when they are not
  9. None of them have Verizon service
  10. They cost the company Billions and we get nothing in return.

VZ India is NOT the backbone of IT support.... How can VZ India support a production system that they cant use in India. Can you visit a Verizon store in India ? NO. Can you watch Verizon employees use the Point of Sale systems in India? NO. Can you watch Verizon customers use dot com in person? NO. Do you have Verizon service in India? NO. The only way you can experience any of this is in the States... in the actual Verizon service areas. Thats why VZ India could Never offer the quality IT support Superior to VZ Employees in the States. Verizon should invest 100% of its resources to hire more IT employees who live in the United States, Verizon coverage area. And disband VZ India to pay for it.
