Flexibility not allowed after return to work

Higher management levels have said during forums that the flex policies are all still available. After May 17th, you should be able to work out your flex schedule with your immediate supervisor.

Has anyone been able to arrange anything with their supervisor? Mine won’t consider any flex situations. It seems like the lower management won’t allow it, and the upper management gets to pretend it is an available benefit policy.

My manager basically told me that the company is watching. They asked people to let the managers know how many days we have worked from home in the last few months. He keeps track of the times when people leave the office. He also objects if/when people need to leave early or come late because of a personal errand, even though many people are taking calls early or late evenings from home. Senior management is clueless as they keep telling people that flexibility is still available.

Get your as--s back to the office. No wfh or hybrid schedule. It is time act like mature adults instead of children. All you people that want the hybrid or wfh want the immediate benefits of the pensioned retired worker without earning it through years of hard work.

The campus isn’t even THAT nice. Bunch of broke a*s huddle room flat screens and click share contraptions that work maybe half the time. Overpriced sodium-laden garbage food to keep your blood pressure high. The Dosey Doe coffee is good. How long till we have to share the campus with a tenant? You know it is coming. The plan has always been to shrink the workforce. Did people think we would EMHC would be EM in perpetuity?

This is going to be one of the greatest internal challenges this company faces. It’s clear the 2-8 year employee range does not want to return to the office, yet (generally) older managers think they should be and THEIR managers also think so. It’s going to lead to mass attrition and a further believe that EMHC was NOT the right concept. What a major mistake by Wayne Tracker.

Badging in doesnt protect you. Went in everyday after the initial return to work was lifted last year. I was probably making too much money and a white male. Oh well, no hard feelings. I’m happier now with a new job and no sword swinging over my head. There is life after XOM. The last few months have been the best ever getting back to being with my kids. Don’t let the company fool you; there are highly successful companies out there that value some skills. Just check your XOM habits at the door and figure out how you can adapt to a new life.

Flexibility from the last dinosaur in industry is like expecting North Korea to join the EU.

Personally, if you are comfortable working from home, you shouldnt work at Exxonmobil. This isnt a startup company, earn your worth. A zoom call isnt working.

Bending over can greatly increase one's flexibility.

My manager has no problems with us using the flex policy, but I can totally believe other managers in the company not allowing for it. That’s one of the biggest problems with the company’s tendencies to push administrative decision making down to the lowest possible levels: they’re applied inconsistently and are heavily dependent on the individual supervisors.

Your manager can not be a sunflower manager if there are no sunflowers in the office. The only.way to kiss your managers bu-t is to be in the office. The only way to drink the kool aid is to be in the office. The only way to manage upwards is to be in the office. The only way to be a yes man, yes woman is to be in the office. We are ExxonMobil and We are Winning.

With the badge-counting going on, many managers won’t grant the short-term flex that is absolutely within their ability.

It matters how you consider "flex", if you're looking for ongoing WFH (e.g. every other Friday), that was never part of the flexibility policy... Which is designed to accommodate 1 offs, etc
