Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I’m ready to give notice

I’m going to make this short and simple. I had to watch older, seasoned employees who were mentors to many of their colleagues get laid off last year. Those experienced veterans in the company were replaced with people who had absolutely zero experience. I’ve kept that in the back of my mind and decided that I couldn’t work for a company that treated their employees so horribly. I’ve finally found the means to get out of here and I’m taking my shot. I’m not going to miss the company but I will miss the people and I wish them nothing but the best.

Worse is when they come pre-loaded with entitlement. They expect to be running the place inside 3 years.

Those university hires with no experience are not paid enough to support a family or home. They quickly leave due to lack of career trajectory at Cisco.

Exactly why I bolted. I knew the consequences of all the knowledge walking out. I also knew it would take some time to have a profound effect and did not want to be the "catcher" in that scenario. Each generation teaches and mentors the next. Without that in place it is the complete wild wild west. I will be the 1st to say the my success hinges a lot on the mentors that I had in my 20's who were 50,60 and even 70 years old. Those folks are the ones who not only helped teach but also lead my example when it came to work ethic etc...

Honestly when I left I did not feel I was going to miss anyone from there...
Both the only 2 good employee I knew already left at the time.

Good luck. It’s wise to preserve your future and dictate your next move then to have the rug snatched from underneath you.
