Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

It’s like high school - but for adults!

I have never worked with a more childish group of people until I came here. Most of my colleagues in my club act as if they’re still adolescents. I wish they’d grow up, stop all the damn bickering, gossiping, and backstabbing and just do their damn jobs. Is that really too much to ask for from a group that are supposed to be fully formed adults?

Our MSM takes all the gossip and bickering very seriously, matter of fact they terminated 11 people in three week period. That pretty much cut out the gossip and bickering, at least for now. Job Performance, Respect for the Individual and Gross Misconduct are killers.

Our club is hiring people sight unseen. They are children, who still think they are in high school. I like young people however do not like the ones who use F word all the time. Very unprofessional. We have an old man who works the door and he is constantly looking at dating sites on his phone when he is on duty. He has been seen looking at young na--d women on his phone. He is a pervert. He makes no secret of giving money to young women. He is a sicko.

All Sam's are this way. Look at what most recent hires are like. Many of the decent people have left during this pandemic...it was the final straw.
As far as college goes...not many can gain employment in their field anyway...it means nothing. High school or GED has been fine in the past. It's today's youth that feel they are owed... And of course management and team leads that ignore the situation or play babysitter. They pay such a low living wage that they are willing to settle, hope the long term (higher paid) quit and save the club or Walmart money.

You think this is only at Sam's? I worked for other places, restaurants, fast food, the state, the county and a few other places over my long, long work life. It has always been this way. Everywhere.

And I thought the club I work at was the only one with the backstabbing, gossiping, immature acting associates and managers! It's nice to know it's part of Sam's culture now so I don't feel so left out!

Same in our club. It is almost comical at times. The front end supervisors gossip behind each others backs. They also play favorites and allow certain people to get away with mu---r. Watching the young people is very entertaining. They are so immature one might think you were still in high school. We have one manager who plays the pity party all the time. She is buddies with one front end supervisor. This front end gal gives the manager gifts all the time. I would think the manager would not accept the gifts. They text and speak to each on the phone all the time. I think this is unethical.

Yes, it is too much to ask. What more do you expect from a career field populated with a majority of HS diploma and GED holders?

Retail is the sequel to high school.

And no I'm not putting the college people on a pedestal because alot of them got by with a 2.5 GPA and a General Ed major.
