Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can they make those wishes come true?

I am completely dissatisfied with the health insurance that this company offers.

when I started in the 90's the health insurance was among the best but all it has done since then is gone downhill. the insurance is basically nothing and it is obvious senior management would love to do away with it completely.

I agree with author of the post that they would prefer it, but I wonder if it is possible to make it happen?

If you're management and don’t have chronic health problems your best bet is to always chose the bronze plan and max out the HSA. If you’re old and have a lot of health issues choose gold….it is what it is.

Baloney, I was discussing my health insurance with the nice security guard at my location last year before Covid hit, His work health insurance was a heck of a lot better and did not have the high deductible we have.

About 44 million Americans do not have health coverage. Count yourself lucky.

"Of course corporations want to rid themselves of burden of providing healthcare as a benefit, who can blame them?"

If this were true, all these companies crying about the cost of healthcare would be lobbying for some kind of single-payer system and they could forget about employee healthcare forever.

They keep the current system in place because it benefits everyone except workers.

Look at insurance industry profits - they're bigger than ever, many times over. The same goes for corporate profits, even for poorly run places like AT&T. Very little of this is passed along to employees. The current system also forces a good portion of the population to work for large corporations like AT&T . There's a lot of people who'd happily open their own business or retire at 50 but cannot afford to simply because of healthcare costs.

They've been gaslighting us for the last 20 years - if you're just coming into the workforce in the last 10 years, you may think it's always been this way.

It hasn't.

IF you were spending 6-8 Billion a year on healthcare for employees,/retiree's what would you do? Healthcare in America is worst in the world. You want better go talk to your representatives in congress. Tell them to quit taking money from insurance industry.

You don't see the writing on the wall here? Of course corporations want to rid themselves of burden of providing healthcare as a benefit, who can blame them?

I started in the 90's too, have always been non bargained/ management; but even for us back then, yes, the insurance was great. HMO, $10 dollar co-pays. Those days are long gone, and it's not the companies fault.

Agreed, the best thing you can do is take responsibility for your health and to to keep yourself in shape. With the high deductible plans they offer, take advantage of the HSA and try to save a bunch of money in there for when you DO need it.

Spend more time working on your health and less time bellyaching. Is that possible?

No, the Stinky will never permit it.

Meanwhile, he can take the corporate jets to go to any doctor he desires.
