RTP is closing, completely and quickly (this summer)
Large blocks of SJC off of McCarthy (Blgs 24-25-26 etc) are being sold to Google
Bedfont Lakes will be shutdown
Whatever small US and EMEA field offices that remain after last year's purge will be emptied
No plan to replace any labs, etc that are affected. Decision is made to 'put it all in the cloud'

Even if true it's less of a reflection on Cisco than on the post-COVID commercial real estate world. Companies learned they can operate -mostly- remote with much reduced footprints in expensive real estate holdings. I doubt very much (a) RTP is "closing" or (b) Cisco is selling to Apple. Some (significant) RTP presence will remain as there is too much lab infrastructure still being used (Cloud or no cloud) and moving that to a suitable new or smaller location would be cost and operations prohibitive. Apple likely wants nothing to do with the Dinosaur buildings of Cisco RTP, but I could see a scenario where some space is leased or rented to them as they build their campus nearby.
Eh, I call bu-----t on RTP closing "completely and quickly" - I can see them closing a few buildings, but not the entire campus. We're not going to go completely remote; especially CX.
Also, labs being in the "cloud" makes no sense however you look at it. Cisco is primarily a HW company. They've already been consolidating labs for the last few years and RTP is one of the main labs.
They're not goin to shut it down all the labs - they'll probably close down the smaller labs in the various buildings to consolidate further.
There’s possibly an element of truth to Bedfont. The lease is up in 2025 and the site was sold to new owners last year. There’s long been a rumour that Cisco would vacate buildings 10 and 11. Of more interest is the three or four offices in Central London, what is the future for them? Consolidation?

I believe the part about the buildings in SJC (and the obscure field offices/labs)…but RTP??? Calling BS on that one. It is true…field offices were largely ghost towns prior to Covid19. Can definitely close down quite a few more post Covid19. Except for Meraki & Umbrella teams…those spoiled kids will continue their cool digs.
wondered when this would finally happen. cisco offices were ghost towns before covid, literal white elephants after. hmm maybe the "hip" open floor plan wasn't such a good idea after all. better to shut it down than risk daily super spreader events. lets the office planners off the hook. good riddance.
