Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Is everybody working at HON depressed?

Think about it, when's the last time you casually chatted with your coworkers and everybody started laughing? I can't remember. Instead, it's mostly strained conversations where everybody looks like they lost someone close to them that day. No smiles, no joking atmosphere, nothing. Just a lot of doom and gloom. Is this really what HON has done to all of us?

Unfortunately, Skippy is a heartless troll who would cheer on anyone contemplating $elf h@rm. That such a creep might work for HW and consider themselves a mover and a shaker speaks volumes about the place.

Not obsessing over doing the job right Skippy. Obsessing in a very dark direction if you catch my drift.

Must be horrible, obsessing over doing your job right. I could see how some people couldn't be able to take that. And does anyone ever actually sleep at night, after over-stimulating themselves with social media, right before bed?? I see my earlier comment is gone. It's not like I called you a useless, cry-baby psycho or anything...

@1qlz+1aO5SGLe -- Yes, Wellbutrin. That's what my doctor put me on. Not so much depression, as in sadness, but rather obsessive thoughts about HON and trouble sleeping. When things get really bad there's no shame in reaching for help.

Come in, do your schtick, get your paycheck. It's a job no more no less. Provide as much loyalty to the company as the company provides to you. This job (or any job) doesn't define you, it just supports your life.

My doctor recently put me on Wellbutrin for depression. He asked me a couple of years ago why I didn't quit. He said he had other patients who worked for Honeywell and nobody had much good to say about it.

Life beyond Honeywell is sooo much better. Don't worry be happy. Those words will not mean much to you unless you escape the cesspool that is working for Honeywell. If you are near retirement and even if you are not run get out of that toxic workplace before your are caught up in their lies. It will never get any better.

The place is a depressing s***ho-e. Trust me the best thing you could do is leave. Plenty of other good jobs out there.

The inevitable termination will end the pain. There are some who embrace an environment of decline and failure, as it deflects attention from their own mediocrity and incompetence.

If you've been at HON long enough, you've been told that "everyone needs to take a turn in the elbow". It's nothing personal. That's just the game everyone has to play. There's no real meaning behind it most of the time. Let it go.

I'll confess. Years ago, when I got thrown in the elbow and received an email that ended with "I hope you realize the seriousness of your situation" I asked my Phoenix doctor for an anti-depressant. He mentioned that he had other HON patients in the same boat. I've been happily retired for 9 years now. There's no hope for Honeywell or anyone working there who isn't a big shot manager or super star performer. Get out while you can. Just do it.

I'm not depressed, I'm blessed and highly favored by the Lord. I'm rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic most days. There's a lifeboat nearby and I'll be just fine. I was looking for a job when I found this one.

It's hard to be happy on a sinking ship with no lifeboats left. Doom and gloom is a normal response.

Not everyone. Just the people being promoted and getting bonuses.
Slackers like me that prioritize family and dont mind working for 2 percent raises in a toxic building ( asbestos and trichloroethylene in the ground water) are happy as a clam.
Note .. if you have been getting better raises as a 20-30 yr old ... i did too. I averaged 10 percent a year from 25 to 36. By 40 things changed. Age matters.

I see a solid combo of hopelessness and humor. Everyone is doing their best and supporting people they work directly with.... but also everyone seems to acknowledge that any future within Honeywell is not bright.

I'm in my mid 30's and Honeywell is my third engineering job. I'm paid a competitive salary and no I am not depressed. My wife has a great job, I have three healthy children, a nice home and my family defines my happiness.
Yes there are several coworkers in my department with constant doom and gloom attitudes and I refuse to let them get me down. As a previous post stated, your attitude is 100% yours and it is what you make it. If my employment at Honeywell ends I'll simply get a new job. I've done it before.

We laugh and joke with each other all the time. I even crack jokes and get a chuckle from the A-ho-e site leader that none of us like. Your attitude is 100% yours. Own it.
