Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

A kind of nursery of talents

I already know a lot of people who, after gaining some experience here, went to much better companies and got big promotions there. These people are doing huge things now, and they were almost invisible here.
How is that possible? How did Verizon become such a company that people run away from and take their good ideas with them to competing companies?

Easy/ Lack of faith in the products. Lack of career growth. You get to learn some things and then realize that you will not be able to do anything else. Why stay with Verizon when someone else will help you grow?
Attitudes have changed. It is no longer normal to stay at one company until you retire. Now you stay for a few years and then move on. I have been here for 3 years and will leave within then next few months for another position. Why settle for a 3% raise yearly when I can get the experience I need and move somewhere else for a 10 to 15% increase and then repeat the cycle?
Verizon needs to have its entire workforce strategy examined. The people running the place think it is the 1960s where people will stay and be happy with the meager cost of living increases that don't match inflation.
