Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How supportive is your manager?

I would not like to accuse anyone, but it increasingly seems to me that my manager is actively sabotaging my work.
The whole situation bothers me a lot. It led me to doubt my abilities until I heard from others of similar experiences with him.
I also thought it was just a passing phase, but his behavior isn’t improving. I'm glad I won't have to deal with him anymore if I find a new job.

Not supportive at all. He does fire out email bo--s and washes his hands of it. The people doing the work and getting issues are piled on avoided because then the manger can't say he didn't know about it or he can say I gave it to so and so. And that seems to be all that is required these days. Conversations end in "hang in there" or "keep driving" That's how we roll.

Never heard him in the last 8 months.
When my time to go arrived, sent him a message to inform him, a '!et's catch up before I walk'. 'Let's go over the work and exit checklist'.
He read it but he never even bothered to reply.

Your manager should not perform, oversee, or be telling you how to do your work. A technical manager does that and they no longer exist.

I had a manager in other group, whom everyone thought was an expert due to his smooth talk. Just after few conversations, I realized he has no expertise. And I would call him out in the meetings. Everyone in his team was miserable but they can’t leave due to age/family situations. I think that individual contributors are great in HON but unfortunately have pathetic managers, in general. What really intrigued me is that these are well educated people (managers) and may have been individual contributors in their careers but some become they direct as-----s and others backstabbers.

They are being mean to try to get you to leave. Managers need to have a certain % of their team leave. Doesn't matter if you do excellent work. It just matters that someone has to go.

My manager is just the way i like them... useless. They know it and therefore everyone is happy.

They are doing it to try to get you to quit so they can meet their turnover metric.

Maybe it's a good thing in Olathe that we get a new supervisor (due to turnover) every other month except that when it comes to review time they have zero knowledge of who does what and the brown nosers win.
