What is the corporate hierarchy at this company?
Is it usually team member, manager, senior manager, director, senior director, VP... or some other hierarchy.
Any comments welcome.

What is the new path for ICs supposed to be?
they hand out director titles like candy. my manager is a director and joins meetings late and acts like he runs the whole show
That is the managerial track. There is supposed to be an individual contributor path that has equivalent titles. But no one has ever gotten a title change into one of those new equivalent titles.
Sort of like dangling a picture of a carrot. It looks like a carrot, but in reality it is nothing.
That's not so unusual actually. Being a manager of people is not always directly correlated to the place in the hierarchy.

LOL... only if there was a structure. You will find Directors and VPs with no direct reports and other VPs with couple of hundred (direct and indirect combined).
