Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Mentally, I’ve already won

No matter what Nike does I’m sticking to the plan I have and they will have to RIF me before I’m ready to leave. It’s not about waiting for severance - it’s about finding something comparable in pay and benefits for me especially with being the sole provider of my family. I will either 1) find another company that will want my skills and expertise or 2) be part of a future RIF. Until one of those two happens I will just keep padding my savings account because I know sooner or later I’m going to leave here either on my own terms or be financially stable to withstand a year of being unemployed. Mentally, I’ve already won.

I think many of us fell into the trap of expecting Nike to do right by us. Sure, there was a time when it actually felt like they were taking care of their employees. Over the last several years it's become clear that you are completely on your own and your attitude about your job should match that.
