Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Will you stay at HON until the bitter end?

How many of you still want or believe they'll be retiring from HON?

I retired 4 years ago after the WFH debacle. I went out two years earlier than planned but I've never looked back and have enjoyed every minute of it. I was in Phx. aero. 37 years in snd was 59 yo. Life is awesome!

Yes, I will stay to the bitter end. For me, it happens to be anytime I choose after Dec 15, 2021. 👍

I would jump off the ship without a life vest or even the ability to swim rather than stay on that ship.

I'm leaving as soon as the right opportunity is available. There's one in the hopper that could be it. Third interview this week. Wish me luck!

Only the optionless voluntarily stay. Most of them will be removed long before retirement.

Been retired from Honeywell for four years never thought I would make it and if I had stayed I would not have been able to retire from Honeywell they sold off the site to Celestica and now there are maybe two people out of 50 + in my department still employed and they do not work for Honeywell.

For people 50 and older retirement from honeywell is entirely a decision of honeywell.
You have no control at all unless your family situation permits relocation and pay cuts at the whim of unseen people.

For people under 50 the entire concept of retirement has nothing to do with honeywell.
There is no pension so work is simply a matter of giving time to maximizes personal savings.
Everyone is already a gig worker no different than an uber driver in any meaningful way besides hourly rate. You are a fool if you dont move every time a better paying job is found.
You are twice a fool if you arent looking for better paying jobs.

This is the fundamental problem at honeywell. Leadership is articulating a vision that says the old business will be shut down and honeywell will become a software company. There is nothing ahead but murky fear. Even if you are a coder today you must realize your skillset is a commodity more common than the guy that installs kitchen cabinets. That is the way honeywell likes it.

The bitter end through retirement won’t be feasible for most, it is a lay-off lottery, plant closures, PIP forced out, or some other scheme they are still planning, its bad now and will only get worse

I'm planning on 20 more years. And, I am sure I can make myself standout well enough to make it.
