I see so many questions on here about should I leave should I stay? I will tell you if a layoff is imminent, stay and bleed them dry, but get the resume ready, update and maintain your Linkdin profile. If you have not updated your resume in 5-7 years trash it and start over, the resume game is different now. I will also tell you as a former AT&T employee, the “skills” they give in their BS training doesn’t amount to anything outside of AT&T. I tell my new employer all the time I have learned more in the 2 1/2 years since starting my new job, than I did in 18 years in the the Death Star. If you have no fear of a layoff, start looking anyway, the security you have will not be there the next time, just ask anyone in the CPDO/MTNO organizations, within 6 months everything was shipped to Bratislava. Good luck everyone, and this is not like years past, the job market is insane right now, tons of places to go, better places where they treat you like a human.

Actually this “misfit” as you called me landed a great job at regional competitor to AT&T as a network engineer. I will also tell you I enjoy every time we take a customer from AT&T.
I still work for T and have for over 3 decades and have to say that layoffs have always been a constant threat. I was affected one time and was rehired in a completely different business unit. All-in-all, yes, this company has gotten worse over the years because the knowledge base of management has declined considerably! T is hiring imbeciles and setting them up for failure! It is very frustrating when Supervisors are clueless and disengaged and don’t take pride in their work. I hope T makes this company competitive and starts getting back on track! The country’s politics will play an important role in the company’s decision making this year and next. Stay tuned!

Tells you everything you need to know. Misfit is consigned to flipping burgers, and as a result, can't let go of AT&T, probably his only shot at a "real" job that he washed out on. He can't move on, because he didn't get anything to move on to.

It really has nothing to do with layoffs. You are just staying to bleed the company. Amazing how well the company does even with workers like this.
