Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

IoT Sales/Products

Something I don’t hear much about these days…Cisco’s IoT products & solutions. There was a renewed emphasis on this segment a few fiscal years ago. Are solutions like Cybervision resonating with customers? Or is just peddling more switch ports in IoT form factors?

It's not IOT at all but industrial switching & routing.even then the bulk of the revenue is from switching. So it's primarily a hardware business.

The dream was that growth in IoT would push network traffic, requiring more hardware/bigger data centers. Its really just a rounding error in the network traffic numbers compared to all the streaming, social media, etc.

It was only a renewed emphasis because the diversity laden VP was put in charge of it, and she is being groomed for CxO. Now she has a new gig.

Cisco sells switches and routers, everything else is just marketing. If the ELT want IoT sales to look good... they bundle a switch with the IoT product
