Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leaving T in 2021? Think about this.....

Yes, the pension is 'protected' by the PBGC; however not at 100%. I always thought as long as T is paying shareholders the healthy dividends, our pension is safe. Well, the chickens now have come home to roost, the dividend is being slashed in half as the Discovery deal is signed. If you're leaving in 2021 really consider taking the lump sum. Don't be a victim of the next shoe to fall!

AT&T can change its mgt. pension and 401k at any time. My bet is that the mgt. pension will be frozen and the 401k drastically reduced!!

I am sure after learning T is going to reduce the dividend this is next. Everybody speculated since the dividend was safe (According to Mr. Stankey a few short weeks ago), everything else is safely funded. Well that train of thought needs to go away since it is now shown to be a LIE. What financial pressure would cause John Stankey, CEO of AT&T to approve the reduction of the dividend? How much trouble are we really in?

left on my own a few years ago and got the lump sum payout and I recommend anybody to take it and talk to a financial advisor. I will have so much more money from taking the lump sum vs leaving it with the thieves at t it isn't even funny. but talk to a financial guy that you can trust and your money will grow good or bad economy.

If you are getting pension vs lump sum advice here, it really won't matter because you are pretty clueless anyway. Money is going to be gone.

No kidding, if we think we have seen Bennie cuts to date, just wait. It's going to get ugly, everything will be on the table. Can T actually go belly up? I would say it's very possible. I don't thing anyone realized how dire things were before Monday.

Lump sum.
Walk away.
Smile and wave.
To trust the stability of AT&T is folly.

If you leave in 2021 or any time you should completely separate any and all income and retirement provisions with the company. Roll your 401K and take the lump sum on the pension.

Why risk taking an annuity with a company that makes bad decisions after bad decisions. Take the lump sum.

Oh yeah! The lump sum is probably the best. When I am 85 years old I don’t want to be wondering why I did not get a pension check while
on hold for 3 hours with some
ATT clerical worker that went to
Lunch
