How to ask for a Severance Package

I've been at Chase just over 5 years and know I have at least a decent severance package if I get laid off. I believe 4 weeks per year I've worked here. If even really possible at Chase, can I ask for them to get rid of me and give me a severance package? It'd be nice to have some time off in between jobs, as I've been working on average 60 hours a week for about 2 years, I'm just exhausted and fed up with this whole organization.

Not sure where you got your info from but severance is 2 weeks for every year from year 1-10 and then 3 weeks for every year thereafter for a max of 52 weeks if you have that kind of time in. Your 5 years will get you 10 weeks. Also keep in mind it is paid in a lump sum so count of 40% going to taxes as it is taxed along the same lines as bonuses

No, you can't just ask your manager for a severance package. You're working too hard OP; sit back and collect the paycheck.

Don’t count on the severance package if they want you won’t get nothing. And my advise don’t tell your friend or coworkers. I know this person voluntary wants to get fire. And get her package at the end they found a way to let her go with no severance package. But good luck
