Hi there, anyone has more inroads about the announced return of promotions?
In our site it was shared that there will be some selective promotions allowed at mid cycle.

Wow. It really means that someone in Dallas was convinced that "one size fits all" isn't the sole method applicabile to workforce management? That perhaps not ALL the promotions needs to freeze. That's almost the French Revolution in ExxonMobil's context. How dating, how fresh, how clever! We are safe now
Valid for a GBC in Europe. It’s because we were promoting people who are in nonMPT CLs to MPT jobs. So bad failure by Dallas to not allow us to match the CLs. So this is just to correct the complete mess this caused for the talented young folks. I have many years under my belt with a good CL for my location so I do not expect any action for folks on my lower. We need to stop the young ones leaving for a 150$ more.
Not sure why you want a promotion right now.
"The PIP is reserved for major performance problems. If you are doing reasonably well with The Company you should not have anything to worry about."
This post is total bs. I was Pip'd but prior to being pip'd my supervisor gave me no indication I was not performing my duties well. In fact I was performing them just fine per our 1:1s. I got along just fine with everyone too. Come ranking all the sudden I get a bunch of negative feedback that came out of nowhere. If my supervisor is correct that I am underperforming then why was I not warned or told months in advance to self correct? Funny thing is after I was pipd I changed my work style and priorities which my supervisor said "it was like I'm a totally new person and doing great things". Despite that, I was applying on the side to other jobs. I found one that I'm currently happy at and working.
Bottom line is the system is flawed. I really enjoyed working with the technicians in manufacturing, but the Xom systems specifically this one is outdated. I suggest xom explore other systems that are more modernized. Shoot even mobil got away from it until LN sold mother mobil to exxon.
Depends where you work. Rank groups are done differently based on how many people are at a location. I’ve seen it happen and it is common knowledge that when you go up in CL and into a new rank group you can expect to drop.
There may have been a time when that was true but it is no longer the case. People in NSI today would never have been there before for the most part in the past. We aren’t hiring so each year the distribution becomes more brutal.
I believe OP might refer to one of the GBCs in Europe. My contacts there said that the info has been shared with local management. No specific details other than they will be allowed to promote few selected individuals now.
I’ve only seen “informal” promotions with more responsibility and longer hours for the same pay.
They are scrambling to react as more people leave, and they can’t make permanent moves and recalibrate the ladder.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the new normal “more with less”.
Most people that move CLs don't actually move rank groups. The ranking is across bands.
Lol. You are a clueless mo--n. Do you live in your own bubble with this company?
F-off. You need to be PIPed just for thinking about it.
The PIP is reserved for major performance problems. If you are doing reasonably well with The Company you should not have anything to worry about.
Bad idea to move to a new rank group right now. You really don’t want a promotion right now. No one is getting raises anyway just makes it more likely you will be PIPd. I’ve seen it happen in past downturns.
Watch what you ask for. I know a few colleagues you were promoted last year in June and got laid off in December. This may be one way for you manager to trap you in for PIP.
You talking about baytown? Lol that’s not going to stop it. The avalanche is coming.
