Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The most toxic work environment

If there was a ranking for the most toxic work environment, I have no doubt that CVX would land at the very top. Just look at the posts here. So much hate, so much lying, so much bullying...and this is regular employees. The entire management is a whole level above this. To survive, you either have to join them or start medicating. There is no middle ground.

@3csm+1aYcs: The European companies give 6 months maternity/paternity leave. So, Chevron blows there. No comparison as far as work/life balance in that regard.

Managers and colleagues actually listen to you at Chevron. There is good work-life balance. The pay is competitive. Fridays off or light work load. You will not find a better employer in our industry, that is for sure. BP is english. Shell is dutch. Total is french for crying out loud. Smaller companies will work you to death and are run by fools.

Yes, you are right about who frequents this board, malcontents, etc. But, fundamentally it is a layoffs board, and the top of my screen here reads:
Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs
which tells me that to discuss issues other than that, I go to the corresponding section of reddit, city-data, facebook, etc. etc. not here or Glassdoor, or Linkdin.
Because that way I can find actual useful information from knowledgeable people who are not all trolls and disgruntled employees.

Remember a few years ago when MW and RM touted Chevron as making Forbes' 'best places to work'list? (At a stunning 96th place?) Now we're not even in the top 250! Admittedly, neither is any other oil company. Take the high salary and benefits, and just quietly do your job. Volunteer for nothing that doesn't translate into a promotion or resume builder.

But I don't like DP - can't I say DP is making the culture toxic?

Name a better major to work for? Everyone says, “this is the most toxic place I’ve ever worked!”, but they never list the better places. Also, if the other places were so amazing, why’d you leave heaven?

I have worked for another major as well as Chevron. This as toxic as it gets. And incorrect you do not need to get a vaccine for a new job. Id--t. Another reason why the environment is deteriorating. Attrition is an issue and we’re just left with id--ts.

If you think Chevron is a toxic work environment then you likely have never worked for another company. The work environment has definitely deteriorated over the past several years but still better than most companies.

Sure ... if you don't like it here, go somewhere else. Oh BTW that vaccine will be required for a new job.

Agreed. It's toxic to the point that behavior mods and "Leading Performance" is really just a way to write you up if you don't fit the specified mold/position. It's disheartening.

Have you seen Exxon’s board? STFU.

Behavior mods and so called “Leading Performance” is just a way to fire you if you don’t fit the mold or the position. Beware and keep your head on straight.
