Use of protected pto

Can the company just take away ppto? I took vacation and apparently didn’t have enough pto so they took out the difference with my ppto. I didn’t want paid for the whole vacation time but the home office took it upon themselves to sc--w me out of ppto. This company needs to bring back HR!

Yeah that's a good question. Happened to me too! And also if you get holiday pay and don't put in 0 hours paid holiday it will dip into your ppto. And this is not communicated to anyone. I just know because I got burned and still worked 5 days that week. Lost ppto.

What I hate is the ppto when people just say I am gonna use an hour or 2 hours of ppto to go home just because they don't want to be there. No matter if ur busy and short handed. They don't care if u will be left there alone. That needs to stop. Ppto should be used if ur late or u get sick. Or maybe u have Dr appt, even of we are not busy and there to many people and u can go home and u ask of u can. But it's being abused at our store. People don't even ask they just say they are using it and leave. They don't even ask a manger or lead and if ur alone oh well. I don't think that is what ppto was meant to be used for. And some people for gods sake idk where they are getting there's from because there is no way they have that much ppto lol. U can't do ppto like 4 hours a week every week and still have some. No way. Lol haha😂😂😂😂😂. Someone tell me am I right about this or can they actually do this.

Home office and managers have nothing to do with what hours come out of your pto. You selected how many hours you wanted and in order to make sure you get paid, the system pulls from any other pto you have. There’s an option to select “unpaid time off.” Use that next time and you’ll be fine.

@rwr, Your club won't let you Full Timers take unpaid time off? Than why does HO make that a choice? I do it because when that holidays come there will be enough OT to make up for those unpaid time off days. So I'll still earn the max of my PT/PPTO.

They’re not screwing you over when it is clearly written what will happen. Maybe read something before quickly blaming H.O. or your Managers.

What’s the point in having PTO and PPTO if the company just decides to take both whenever. Use to be if you didn’t have enough vacation time you just got paid for the amount you had. Just another way for the company to sc--w us over

Next time if you don’t have enough hours in regular pto after your schedule comes out for that week go in and cancel the a day or a few days so they don’t take your ppto otherwise yes they will take it from there

You should have put timeoff without pay. If you don't have enough pay in either bucket it takes it out of the other one.

If you're full time our store won't let you take unpaid time off if you're on block scheduling. I wish I knew the rules to this. Like I wish I could find it on the wire

That's how it works. Look on the wire under PTO FAQ's. Maybe if you had put some of it under Time Off Without Pay, it would have gone the way you wanted. But we are on our own without HR.

For sure this company needs to bring back HR, but they're too cheap.

I don't know the answer to your question. Sorry.
