After 5 years today was my first interview. I think things are going to be ok
Get another job in a growing industry father than this dying business. Have a job lined up, then piss off people so you get pip’d, take the pil, then either take some time off or extra pay before you start your next job. The jobs are out there and considering the 401k match, raises, and bonuses at some, you’ll make more money and most importantly, a better future.
DO IT IF YOU CAN. Your health will thank you. I left last month and now heading to Starbase. Plenty of openings for engineers to make a real contribution to the next gen
Stop the discourse surrounding making sure people have something else lined up before quitting. Plenty of us have a great financial cushion and would benefit from a few months break, no need to scare people into staying if they’re totally miserable. Waiting out for PIP is not bad advice but after that passes, the sweeping advice to not quit until you have something else is not necessary.
I know a high performing engineer that just jumped ship! Was surprised but not surprised.
Don't resign before you bag a job. You may also want to wait to be PIPed. That way you get some extra bucks while looking for a new job.
All jobs at big corps are going to be pretty similar. Focus on your life outside of work.
Makes you wonder why some people try so hard to convince people to resign? Remorse about their own decision?
