Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Stunning and Brave, Chuckie.

From the WSJ:
Yet so much of this CEO posturing cites no facts—or even fails to mention the word “Georgia.” American Express stands “against any efforts to suppress voting,” said CEO Steve Squeri. “BlackRock is concerned about efforts that could limit access to the ballot,” said CEO Larry Fink. “Governments should be working to make it easier to vote, not harder,” said Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins.

Funny how to heal of Major League Baseball is happy to pull an All-star game from Georgia, but not his own membership of the Augusta golf club, where this week he’ll be enjoying the Masters tournament.

Georgia new voting laws are racist and intend to suppress votes so the party in power can keep in power. Companies will lose customers if they support the voter suppression or if they are against it. Clearly they made the math and decided that the majority are not in the suppression vote side. Simple math, something that the people who think the elections were stolen clearly have problems with.

Chuck should listen to Charles Barkley and learn.

CEOs created the "woke mob" to distract from income inequality. The CEOs will just create a new type of mob if the "woke mob" negatively impacts their net worth.

CEOs may think there’s no downside to hopping on a band-wagon that insinuates that Georgia’s GOP leaders are inveterate racists. But far from dodging our partisan political warfare, they’re taking a side and promoting more division. They and their companies may pay the price when the woke mob decides to turn on them and they need GOP protection.

In a political debate, you make outlandish claims against your opponent and tell people what is supposedly wrong and they are the person to fix it. Robbins has been off on a social political experience and should be held accountable. Giving money, which is not his, to charities which perform a great service or those that pretend they care about racial matters, etc are distractions to the fact that 1. Cisco sales and operating profits shrank during the 12 months ended last quarter. 2. Revenue has been declining for multiple years. 3. Product revenue has been declining for three years. 4. After six years, Wall Street view Cisco as a hardware vendor. 5. Product development cycles miss their market schedules consistently. 6. Product revenue declines in the US even though Huawei is not able to sell in the US infrastructure. 7. A weak executive staff overly compensated for poor results.

A new employee decided to leave after a short time for something better? Good for you.

The problem with CEO's getting political is that tomorrow nobody will care if a voter has to show up with a driver's license. The left uses it as an attempt to get votes. Then the very next day, they are off on some other effort to get more taxes. People see the hypocrisy. Last week it was the massage parlors. The week before that they did not care.

And that's just what is wrong. The fact that they really don't care, unless it is for political gain.

Today someone cared. Tomorrow nobody cares. A government somewhere commits human rights violation. But our third world country problem is (today) more important, because I forget to bring my driver's license to the voting booth. But dannmit I'm an American, and I DESERVE what Chuck wannus to believe.

I've heard enough.

Some time back Washington Post had an article on corporate advocacy. Listed the US causes Apple or Levi were backing and the rights causes in China that they backed. The China section was blank. Sign of hypocrisy, afraid to make China made at them shows that they are pushing political causes in the US more for PR than for ideals.

Funny how folks don't want big business to have political influence unless its being used to support their causes.

Looks like Chuck has joined the FeeeMen society, a group of people who drive around without drivers license and believe it is their right to drive without a license or registration?

Ughhh. This used to be a good company to work for.

I've got an idea for Chuck and Fran. Why don't you eliminate employee badge or need to show IDs to work at Cisco and take the locks off the doors (especially building 10) Maybe even eliminate the security in place to log into your networks. Let's see how that turns out. I have yet to meet anyone without an idea in my lifetime.

It's true though. Government ID needs to be mandatory and free for everyone. Yes, even non-citizens should have free access to government issued ID.

I can see charging for a driver's license because driving is a privilege and not a right, even if it's a necessity for most people because America doesn't have an efficient mass transportation system in all cities. But identification cards should be free.

My daughter had a "Real ID" ID card. The DMV didn't send a renewal reminder like they do for driver's licenses, so we didn't realize it was going to expire until the last 30 days. Because it was at the beginning of the pandemic, the DMV hadn't figured out how to keep operating safely and started requiring appointments, but the wait was 45 day or more. For whatever reason, we couldn't renew it online before it expired. Since it's now expired, the level of documentation required to get an ID issued is such that she can't meet the requirements. Due to unemployment, she lost her apartment and moved back in with us, so she has no home or name on a lease, has no utilities in her name, and only has a bank statement with our address on it, but the DMV requires two forms of proof of residency. Now she CAN'T get an ID, so when our state finally gets the voter id law re-instated, she won't be able to vote.

If not this, then we need to get biometrics from every person when they cast a vote.

Hell no, that's too much big brother surveillance. Each person would have to be finger printed with some form of ID to get registered, and then your finger prints, or whatever biometric was used will forever be in the system. No thanks. Not to mention, how much would it cost to run every biometric to make sure said person only voted once, and wasn't registered as multiple people? How long does it take to run a single set of biometrics against 150+ million other biometrics? And do that times 150+ million voters!

I hate Voter ID requirements. In protest against it, I decided to not take my driver's license to my polling place during the one election it was required for. I selected the most obscure form of ID that was listed by the State Board of Elections and was on all the signage at the polling place. When I showed my Veteran's ID card, which was specifically listed, the poll worker asked for my Driver's license. I said I didn't have it and he said I couldn't vote without it. I pointed to the sign behind him and said "Not according to that sign. It says ANY Government agency issued ID was a valid form of voter identification and that the Veteran's Administration was a federal government agency the last time I checked." He responded that it didn't have an expiration date and that all ID's had to be unexpired. I responded with "No, it says IF the ID has an expiration date, it must be unexpired. Once you become a Veteran, you CAN'T LOSE your Veteran status even AFTER you die, so what's the point of an expiration date?" I argued with that dumb a$$ for 30 min before he finally agreed to let me, a white male, vote. If a white guy can have that much difficulty voting under Voter ID laws, how hard is it for minorities?!?

Only american citizen should vote.

If Cisco wants it both ways...

  • Required vacinated card ID
  • NO voter card ID

If that's the case of hypocrite. Call it like it is.

If he took 3 seconds to read/understand the law, he wouldn’t make such a stupid comment. It’s becoming increasingly anti-democratic. The activists and elites pushing unelected billionaires to punish elected govts to further their woke agendas. At some point, the plebs are going to revolt.
