Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

BACK TO CAMPUS!!!

Surly, current employees (FTEs and ETWs) have seen the communication regarding the plan to get back to the office. Apparently, we will know more before MAY about the phase approach to bring us back. How are you folks feeling about that? Do you really want to get back to the office this year? Are we throwing caution to the wind here? What will they do the moment people start to get sick again? Rather uncomfortable with the idea.

It is amazing that people are posting on a layoff board about whether they want to do their work at home or in multimillion dollar luxury facilities with walking access to dining, free world class fitness facilities, and dedicated climate controlled workspace.
Meanwhile there are hundreds, thousands even, who have been laid off from this very company and at least hundreds more to come in the next couple months.
I'm sure there's a percentage of those people who would take your seat "on campus" in one of those buildings and not whine one peep about it.
Even at a company as dis-functional as the rest of the posts on this site indicate that Nike currently is (and where there's smoke....)

As one other person commented, I too get depressed when I think about going back. I have never been happier in my 20 years with the company as I have been since working remote.

@2ryv I do have lack of empathy for anyone that complains about their situation but will do nothing about it.

@2tvj, how do you know the person is a he?

@2tvj, not your place to tell others what to do. People know their choices and they will exercise them at their own pace. All you managed to do here is show hypocrisy and lack of empathy with people. You could have said something like "unlike ....., I am anxious to go back to work because, for me,....."

@2neo i didn't say he was wrong....for him he is right...that is why i suggested he get a job elsewhere if he hates it.

@2ryn, please tell us all what you see! Is attacking another person’s opinion your way of having a different point of view? Maybe you must proved that person’s point if the office is full of people who think that way.

@2xqr I could see why nobody wants to work with you in the office....and why you must be happier working from home....go find a new job lots of them out there that allow remote work.

@2ixo, we the PEOPLE do not only hate the commute; we hate much of the sh– that goes on at work. We would rather be home, happier, more productive, and shielded from the f—ing B.S

what you people hate is the commute! I know I commuted to downtown for 10 years....but I live near Nike...so I walk to work. Best of both worlds.

They’re not gonna let those shiny new buildings sit there empty. It sure looks silly!

I’ll be honest, the thought of having to go back to campus even 1 day a week literally makes me depressed. When we started working from home I actually started liking my job again. I am much more productive working from home, it saves me almost an hour of commuting each day, and I’m far more happy than I ever was working on campus.

The irony is that Nike always tells us to embrace change. But when a clear majority of employees say “The change we want is to be able to work remotely all the time” Nike has no interest in embracing that kind of change! Even though it has proven to be highly successful the last year.

I resent Nike HR assuming that they know better than me how I best get my work done. I am comfortable working at home. I am very uncomfortable attempting to work in the three ring circus called “freestyle” workspaces. If I had wanted to work in a call center type of environment I would have applied to a call center. It’s so demeaning to presumably be a “professional” while forced to work in what looks and sounds like a glorified high school cafeteria.

Nike should learn from Microsoft: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/microsoft-delays-the-reopening-of-its-offices/ar-BB1ffj4t?ocid=msedgntp

I do not want to go back to campus. Not even one day a week. The moment they tell us to go back is the moment I will find another opportunity outside of Nike and fully remote.

I'm not looking forward to going back full time. If possible I'd like to continue to work from home 2-3 days a week. If that's not possible it may strengthen the idea of retiring early.

@afk, respect your opinion. For me, I just want to do the best job I can and that is it. “Campus life” means nothing to me.

campus life is the only reason to work for nike....can't wait to get my shots and get back to campus life...if working remote might as well work for somebody that will pay me more money.

By my informal census about 90% of the colleagues I’ve spoken with don’t want to return to campus. Of that 90% about 99% are afraid to say this out loud.

I can’t wait for that awkward first day back on campus where everyone pretends that they’re thrilled to be there.

Sorry to hear that @zvk; you will be better off soon. To OP's credit though, it was said "current employees (FTEs and ETWs)......"
