Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

80% of Controllers hate working here and 50% actively job hunting

The majority of folks are looking for another job and wishing they worked elsewhere. This is going to start impacting productivity and willingness to work extra hours. Controllers is the worst!

Management is stuck with 80s mentality, ruling by fear and lacking any real empathy. Fear is not respect, when pushed too far folks who are fearful react strongly by walking out.

No you can not preach that you care and yet dump insane amount of mainly meaningless work on people.
Controllers management if you really care then do something about the ridiculous hours, stop asking endless extra questions that generate weeks of work.

Tell us the truth about how many of us you plan to lay off. The culture has become unbearable and we are at breaking point. The mental and physical stress that you continue to cause is immoral. And do not force us back into the office, this will just result in more people walking out and if they stay it'll be for the paycheck only until something else lines up .

Hey stop complaining! At least the finance forums are anonymous, not like everywhere else?!

I'm surprised only 50% are actively job hunting, I bet the true number is much higher.

Move all controller positions to BA...then move all IT to India...Then move all engineering to India. Keep a couple thousand office jobs in US...only petrochem plant/refining positions stay is US. US employment can drop from 30k to 18k...

Don't be afraid to quit and let this group of clowns suffer. Save your skin. Look about for yourself and your family. These clowns in management only see us as numbers. Let's show them what a lil numbers can do

Even before all of this, controllers has always been a terrible place to work with high attrition

Take out the unnecessary reporting and Controllers can be slashed by 50%+.

Or get people who know how to use SAP and Excel. Most of Controllers can be replaced with a macro.

I’m in unconventional and I agree. It is very well known that work in controllers for most people has doubled if not tripled since the layoffs and they are continuing to “make things lean.” I spend most of my time on doing the sh***y work that has been done over the years. So no to the person who said it’s better to have less people, less people means more mistakes. Mistakes that are caught years down the road that have costly financial penalties.

Wow, Management needs to listen to this guy. He took the initiative to poll the people. This is excellent work. Surely his demands will be met.

In my experience, having less people in the controllers organization is not necessarily a bad thing.
