Have you people seen the RMAP monthly premiums? You may want to reconsider.
It's not a one year package. Unfortunately.
I'm doing both.
I came back after my first WFR–what they called it before calling it LRs–and got a second package.
Now I'm back a third time waiting to be converted. If that happens, I'll be eligible for the retiree medical plan. I'm not 100% sure you're eligible for RMAP if you quit, but if they LR me again, I'd definitely be eligible for the RMAP and get whatever the severance package is.
I'm betting I won't be converted a third time just to prevent me from getting the eligibility for RMAP. I had the year's of service, but I was not old enough for the plan when I was LR'd the second time.
I'd go back long enough to get into the system and retire to get the Retiree Medical plan.
