A recruiter called me last week and asked if I would have a look at an opportunity at another company. When I declined, she stated that her husband is sitting next to her, working for two companies (from home). I could hear him talking in the background.
This is really big right now. My guess is that the recruiters, who take half the contract rate are the ones really pushing this because they make a quick buck (or two).

I know several people doing this.
One guy even moved in with his brother back east ( not to pay Silicone Valley rent ). And is working both jobs remotely.
He said that is the only way (next year) that he will be able to afford and to buy a house in Silicon Valley.
And then send for a bride.
I had a co-worker do that for 9 months before the manager knew he had not been in the office. Logged in to work orders, worked at his other job, and got paid for both. They tried to fire him, but had no grounds because his work time was time stamped and work was actually done. The laid him off instead with 6-months severance. This was at another IT company here in RTP that lays off regularly. I know a ton of people that are doing it now from Cisco, Lenovo, IBM, to name a few.
