Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

We are lucky to have such great jobs.

Please stop spreading toxic beliefs about quiting. Truth is this is the best place to work. Be happy you have a job. The market is tough right now. Not that easy to find a new better paying job

What a lad if bs. ExxonMobil has lowered the bar with its poor management. You really do not stand out anymore and if you think that you are living in a fantasy. Chevron has been kicking your a– for at least a couple of years and now that you sh– all over tons of good employees your worth even less.

Lucky to have a job? Lol there are plenty of companies that are hiring now with comparable pay. Exxon pays sh– while touting they are competitive. O&G king of pay is quickly becoming comparable to other industries outside O&G.

The question is are you ok taking a 10% pay cut to stop caring about exxon corporate BS, misplaced priorities, and toxic culture. If you believe this company is the best and there is no comparison you are as much a dinosaur like the company is becoming.

@qpn+1advAM1Q - Oh great, another rig pig with his McMansion and lifted F350. Just what the world needs more of.

Disagree. Worth checking out the job market - you would be surprised - industry outside of oil and gas is doing well. Market is competive right now but not tough..

OP and others, you’re relatively right to say that the pay is good. However, in case you would consider things that don’t seem to matter to you, like being able to be proud of the company you work for, be valued for your experience and expertise and not be thrown in NSI because you’re becoming “expensive”, actually being able to get a full pension or at least some pension instead of being thrown out as you get close to 50, having a future instead of being “tribute” material for the annual “Hunger Games”, plus other small things that all relate to respect and dignity, you wouldn’t say this is a great place to work.
Maybe you’re in management and you think you got a lifetime ticket on the gravy train, but open your eyes: 2020 was just a preview of things to come. Mismanaged companies eventually have to get rid even of corporate stooges who toe the line.

I agree we shouldn’t spread toxic beliefs. I disagree that this is the best place to work. Especially for younger employees. The good ole days of O&G are gone. The pay is still good. But the company is moving so many jobs overseas and will continue to cut costs. There are legitimate reasons to consider a long term career at a new company. Unfortunately, it’s also difficult to predict what some other company will be like in 15-20 years. Tech companies evolve even faster. How can someone expect a long term career at one of those companies? Not really sure what sector is the most stable. But that’s why we have to be able to constantly evolve.

My life is great because of exxon. I have a big house, cars, toys etc. None of this possible without exxon. Crude runs through my veins. Stop being babies. I have had it with all these snowflakes
