Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I'm middle age and I was laid off

It's been months and I still haven't found a replacement job. I'm at an age where I'm still too young to retire but at the same time nobody will give me a chance to start over (and realistically, I don't even know if I could.) All my plans for the future have come crashing down. I really hope this bank's leadership knows how many lives they've ruined.

That's what this Company does to you. Suck the best years of your life when you are at the peak of your Career leaving you in the streets like a brain-dead zombie and you have nowhere to go. The moment you would want to go back and correct all the mistakes in choosing your career path you are already too late to make that decision now .You have to think now to start all over again like you started fresh out of College . I regret all those years I have given to BNY Mellon and those late nights because this Company doesn't seem to care .

Texas is not the place to be.. Good luck with that! Many are out of work due to Oil & Gas industry being hit hard..

My dad was laid off from a different company a few years ago at that awkward age where he's too young to retire and too old to look attractive on a job application. This was after two decades with the same company - Long hours and dedication for many years. Companies can't just let people retire with dignity anymore. As soon as they sense you're not as productive or as cheap, you're kicked to the curb and you're collecting on your IRA 5 years earlier than you wanted and driving for Uber. Goodbye comfortable retirement.

The managements won't care about the employees, they only care about money. We are all replaceable in their eyes.

I found BK to pay high for a bank but low for a financial company. Even a government job such as firefighter or police officer pays more than many professions at the bank.

Get out of Pittsburgh! Seriously, if you move to another city it will be easier for you to find another company that will give you a chance to start over!
