Nike has a track record of not paying it’s construction bills. PK’s right hand goon chief negotiator did it in 1992 and then again with with the recent expansion.

If you are a contractor, the next time the opportunity comes for a Nike job, think twice.

From one FTE to any ETWs out there. Yes the pay is shit (because shift takes 1/3 to 1/2) and you’re mired in bullshit.

Just remember that there are leaders out there who appreciate the work you do. When something doesn’t go your way, it’s not because someone doesn’t care, it’s because someone is trying to do the right and rational in a broken, irrational place.

Don’t wait for a conversion. Approach every project as an opportunity to develop new, bankable skills courtesy of a Fortune 100 company. Learn how the toxic game is played, not to give into it, but so you grow stronger from it. You’ll be able to spot it inside and outside of workplaces. You’ll be better for it and beat assholes to the punch.

Get what you need out of this place and squeeze every last drop from the brand to land your next gig. Hard to see the forest for the trees when you’re in it, but you’ll be fine.

Oh man, learning that this is partially because they let go of the ETWs, who were doing most of the actual work, just makes me chuckle.

I was that ETW, doing the work of 2-3 people, by the time I decided I had enough of making others look good while I waited around for a conversion that was never going to happen. I wish I'd known that things would've worked out much differently for me if I'd just pretended I didn't know how to do anything and spent most of my workday hanging out and gossiping.

It's because the systems to track invoices and payments for this type of work is c––p. In addition, they had a lot of ETW's in the roles and they let them all go. The team is overwhelmed with work but no resources.
