Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

It's a leadership problem, not a company problem

I don't have a problem with Exxon. I've been here for decades and I've been through many good times and many bad times with it. I do have a problem with lousy leadership that makes decisions which make working here unbearable at times. That's where all the blame lies and we should all remember that. Why do we keep talking in abstract about the company when we know full well who's responsible for this mess?

Yeah, more lies by mgmt, like 90% of PIP'ers pass it. Seriously, mgmt.? You think people are that stupid to believe it? No, you guys lie like this and think people believe it? Wrong, you just got exposed even more now.

I agree, I’ve been here for 30 years and management practices and culture get a little worse every year to almost unbearable now. We can’t help ourselves because of ourselves, we’re just stupid now and lack any common sense. Employees quit because of bad bosses not because of bad companies.

Just remember everyone is replaceable including the leadership. It is just harder to do that.

@ufm+1afeBYHq almost without exception, every “I got a new job” post on LI from now-former EM people includes a thinly veiled swipe at management in one way or another. So that’s what people are doing about it.

@ufm...

Persuasion and influence right? Eye-roll.

It’s deeper than that. In our facility the department head is not rational and I believe he’s passing that onto the sls. The whole management structure at this site is really jacked up. There’s nothing much we can do about it other than March in step and hope we don’t upset the vengeful king.

A combination of situations like the pandemic, the climate change movement, the Company's outsourcing strategy, and political changes have all contributed to the current environment. The weakest link has been management's response, being devoid of compassion, while ignoring and violating the Company's long-standing unwritten agreement with loyal and dedicated employees. Management has severed the last strand of the trust cable, and is now in a free-fall situation of their own making. No amount of rationalization or clever words can repair the damage. Trust is lost.

What are you doing to fix the problems besides posting your grievances in an anonymous forum?
