Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sams Club I'm done

I'm a fresh manager and we just had club inventory and Easter I'm working like a red head step child. So when my GM refuse my vacation all I said to myself was I'm done I turned in my resignation and the look on her face it felt sooooooo good.

I was restructured last year immediately after we did annual inventory (I was one of the Assistant Managers they cut in each building) and it felt AMAZING when they told me. I got to sit at home during the lockdown, during the food runs, the toilet paper shortages and all that bulls*** and got PAID severance to do it.

Sam's isn't worth it. Leave when you can!

It's sad you think you had to sc–w your fellow team, managers, hourlies, and your GM because you didn't get what you wanted. Did you stop to ask why she may have denied your vacation? There are often things that go on behind the scenes GMs know, yet are unable to share with managers, because of their lack of professionalism to keep information among the management team only. It takes a lot of work as a GM and manager to run such a large store, you as a Fresh manager should know that. To think you walked out and left your co-workers high and dry says a lot about your character, work ethic, and level of maturity. Good luck on your next role, I hope you are successful, however, don't be surprised if Karma visits you.

I walked up to a manager after 23 years and told him I quit, because he was mad that I got Sundays off with the new block scheduling .He called me up to the office to and asked me to start working on Sundays again I told him no, boy did he start treating me like dirt yelling at me on the floor while the store was open for no reason . He was a miserable person with a chip on his shoulder and I worked with him all 23 years, 4 months later he let the morning crew in through his keys on the table and walked out !! Was a total jerk the last few months I worked there to everyone not just me. So good for you for walking out it fells good to do it, but make sure you have another job lined up, bills payed otherwise that can be scary to do I just retired so I was good to go. Good Luck .

Good for you. Ignore the may sayer up there. They are just bitter they don't feel they have the option to leave. Trust me, you can make the same else where with the experience and it doesn't have to be the same environment. Your employment background will open a lot of doors. If you have a degree, even more. So good for you. Don't feel trapped! That is how this company gets to wring people dry. They make them feel trapped because people don't want to go through looking for and starting a new job, or don't think they will find something "as good". There are plenty more jobs with much better benefits. Our medical sucks!! Absolutely terrible from what I am used to before I moved to my area and got this job. They try to pull the wool over. Trust me, there is better. And any job who starts an orientation by shoving anti union down anyone's throat is a massive red flag. I am sorry but that should be no where in an orientation. It is people's rights. And to have 2 videos on it... Wow. This is but a stepping stone. I, like some others I am sure, got a little stuck due to covid but, it isn't holding me back from prospects, nor should it hold back anyone else. Your value is only as much as you make it.

I quit after 19 years. Yeah I gave up 5 weeks vacation and 44000 per year. I found another job making 38000 to start, 2 weeks vacation, better benefits and oh yeah 99 percent less stress. I found happiness and balance between work and home. No regrets here.

My manager and I quit on the same day. 1 day later the gm was fired and perp walked out of the building. I was a 20 year employee and my manager was a 10 year employee. It felt great knowing that we had something to do with getting that jerk canned

Walked away from $60K plus a year over a vacation? Get real..I would buy a lead or other hourly doing that but a manager? Get serious.

I’m so sorry that you felt you had no other Avenue but to walk away. But at the end of the day it’s your health Sam’s will continue on and replace you in a second.
I’m sure that you will find other doors opening.

Congrats on your exit! I've work for the company for 12 years and I'm just about to that point, I realize that companies are hear to make money and I have no problem with that. But I do have issues with this company and how it uses its people, no matter what you do its never enough. Good luck with your new adventure in life!
