Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why so NEGATIVE?

So much negativity here.. it looks like EM is going to wind up. BUT that’s not true.. Darren Woods and EM will be FINE. Just whiny NSI & Salty employees affecting the image of our great company. We are ExxonMobil!

This is comical. People are salty for losing their jobs on trumped up issues such as not a good fit whatever that means and etc.

Others are salty bc of the uncertainty.

I’ve seen people outperform others and still lose their job. So there’s that...

In some places outside of Houston where they have eliminated the cost of living people are resigning to accept offers with competitors making much much more. Bonuses intact. 401k intact. In oil and gas. Unclear to me how they think we are competitive still in some markets. They don’t look granular enough only think about Houston.

Woosh! Obviously you don't understand the salaries for much of MPT employees outside this company. $100k is not hard to make in many industries now. It's not only reserved to O&G, let alone our low balling company.

You're obviously dumb for thinking that working for this company is providing high salaries that we all should be thankful and not crying for. Exxonmobil is not the only company to offer six figures for an MPT employee nor is it that difficult to find a company willing to pay $100k+. No one said anything about reaching for 800k+ but you ya salty moron.

Just fine for how many years? Everything I am reading shows the days of oil and gas are numbered and certainly not going to last for a career for those of us in our 20’s and 30’s. Also it won’t just be one day all is fine and then we wake up and it isn’t. It will be a long decline. We are already seeing it. The golden years are past. Time to find a new industry.

Wrong. It was by all definitions a merger, not a purchase. Exxon and Mobil signed a merger agreement, not a purchase agreement. Educate yourself son. It ain’t hard.

Congrats. One of the dumbest posts of all time! “Six figure salary is not that fantastic in today’s economy”.

So you are holding out for a million dollar plus salary? That would be seven figures. Count spaces to the left of the decimal point. Not so hard is it?

I can’t imagine anyone settling for just $800k or so today. Especially someone as smart as you.

Beyond dumb.

@phw, and why is that? Exxon BOUGHT Mobil, it wasn't a merger.

Why so negative? Ask management about the BS they are try to feed the employees. Will there be another mass exodus on May 31 before the interest rates go up?

You're such a joke. Many companies pay similar or more to do less than exxonmobil. 6 figure salary is not that fantastic in today's economy.

EM will always be fine. It is up to each of us to take ownership of our careers and manage them accordingly. EM will always look out for EM and you need to always look out for you...

It's hard to feel sorry for a bunch of people making 6 figures saying they deserve more. Be happy you have a good job at a good company. I'm tired of so many crying babies.

For me at employees things are not fine. There are a few who benefit from the system as is but that is not the norm for most.
