Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I'm being pushed out

I have no other explanation for what's been going on. Within a few weeks, my manager went from normal to micromanaging my every move. He finds faults in everything I do, even the things I did hundreds of times before the exact same way and he never had any complaints (because there's nothing wrong with it!!) The man who never raised his voice at work now thinks it's okay to yell at me nonstop. I'm really not sure what I can do about this, but my work atmosphere is becoming unbearable. I feel like I'm being pushed to quit.

I’d recommend looking for a new job not trying to prove your value to this sinking ship

Unless you are in a legally protected class, EM can pretty much do anything they want to you, fair or not. Just like any other company. Even in a protected class, you would have to prove disparate impact to have any basis whatsoever to challenge your employer. Very high bar to clear.

Document and record calls if that makes you feel better, but 99% chance it means nothing as far helping you. I think it is a waste of energy. Would be better off using time and energy to demonstrate your value to the company. If someone has it in for you, they don’t have to yell at you to give a low ranking. Actually pretty foolish for them to do so. Boomers will attest that vast majority of them kept their heads on a swivel. This is really nothing new. Good luck.

I’m in the same boat with my manager, but am looking forward to a potential PIP for 3 months PIL while I search for another job. I want out!

This is the same old tired troll bait that repeats over and over on this site just to get a reaction.

When are you people going to quit letting trolls pull your strings?

Document your conversations with your manager in your own private notebook with dates and times. You should also talk to a lawyer regarding your posts and how best to go about documenting your interactions. You never know when your notebook will come in handy for a "class action" lawsuit.

If you live in Texas, you only need your permission to record telephone conversations. A recording is worth a 1000 words in a notebook. Note that your manager may also be recording your telephone conversations if you are using company issued cell phones and VoIP computer phones. You may also want to talk to legal counsel regarding the best way to respond to telephone calls that are being recorded by your manager.

Good luck since your manager has already started their own NSI/PIP documentation process on YOU.

Really, who yells at employees nowadays? Do they do that at the manufacturing site? Because I don’t think employees get yelled at at the Palace.

Likely your supervisor was told to cut headcount and you are the chosen one. Start looking for a new job and be thankful for the early warning. In a way beats being blindsided once the rankings come out.
