Riser and Pipeline Engineering Job opportunities

Any riser and pipeline engineers out there who have left? Where did you go? Midstream focus companies? New industries? I think they will continue to displace us with BTC engineers. I already feel like I am training my replacement. We are all holding out hope for Guyana and Brazil to pick us up but looks like new model is BTC replace us and no expat jobs. I don’t see many reasons to stay.

Silly engineer. Expat jobs are for global projects project managers not engineering engineers. Just look at how well we managed SBM with Liza Destiny!

Unless your title says principle engineer- you are being outsourced.

You will not get an expat into Guyana or Brazil, this is a dream that will not come true. You probably are training your replacement. Go to work for an MLP if you want to stay in midstream, better jobs, more responsibility and more fun to work for than XOM. Midstream is not EMs core business, although laughingly they believed it to be, EMPCO is a bad joke, and an expensive one at that, typically 25% above industry average costs to operate and 50% above for CAPEX projects. The Value Added Chain strategy d–dwhen the Woods Lean In strategy got exterminated.

Waiting for expat assignment in Brazil and Guyana?Consider yourself to be another useless mo–nfrom the Upstream. You should have learned from the losers at URC who moved to CSC many years ago; continued to stay useless in all the restructuring and are always running around begging for expat assignments.

Search for TMTS on intranet and you would know. Bengaluru GBC is being primed to take away a lot of engineering jobs. Unless you are actually turning valves or work on actual equipment in the field your job is at risk of being sourced out. Better start looking while employed to find best opportunity outside.

Pipeline Company is on the block for divestment as we do not need this anymore. Plenty of MLP companies that can handle our and everyone else business in the Midstream. Either leave now and choose where you want to go or stick around and get absorbed when divested by whoever the g-dpodders deem will pay us the most money, which typically translates to those companies with the worst employee benefits.
