Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Feeling guilty instead of BNY Mellon?

I can’t describe how I felt when the person that taught me how to do the job was laid off. Absolutely unfair. She deserved to stay at work more than anyone in my group.
BNY Mellon definitely makes completely irrational decisions. I was put in an awkward position to be ashamed of surviving this round of layoffs at the expense of a person who deserved their job much more.

It’s the pay, if anyone making six figure are ask to train someone or moved to OPS from AppDev, this is the sign that at some point you will be laid off. Instead of training someone start looking for a next fantastic move. Don’t be fool, learn from others.

I want to know if they fired the person responsible for hiring all these people we supposedly don't need.

Was the person laid off of a “certain age?”

As the decision to reduce is a financial one, you're going to see a lot of "senseless" terminations that come down solely to having a salary above a target percentile. Just how it is.
