We are getting slammed with resignations, work hours are terrible- is this just reality of working at field site/ plant vs HQ?
What’s it like working at HQ? Are folks really struggling to stay busy?

One should not be surprised when resignations occur when the company stops the matching the 401K retirement plan, cancels tuition reimbursement for higher education and announces no merit raises or promotions unless you are the top 10%.
My group is slammed, young people keep leaving for better opportunities and those of us left have to take on extra work with no hope of replacements. And yup, still expecting 8%–10% NSI/PIP/PIL this round.
Truly a sinking ship.
Yup. Those employees also walked to work uphill in snow both ways.
Many studies show that a well rested and not overworked/stressed employee will generate more value versus one always working. The mindset that putting more hours on the job means more value is just as antiquated as the dinosaur that is exxonmobil.
We used to say XOM likes employees who can do 12 hours of work in 8 hours but works 12 hours. Unfortunately the new generation of employees are snowflakes and only complain, and get only 4 hours of work done per 8 hour shift (with a bill rate over 300/hour). Time to move 50% of US HQ jobs to India or BA or KL with bill rate under 50/hour.
I am working 147.23 hours a week and now getting tired of all the hard work. What should I do next?
Is it that bad? I haven’t seen any one in the Spring campus doing anything useful. The only hard work I have seen is brown nosers shamelessly sucking to managers.
100 hours a week sounds right and when you look at hour worked vs hours paid it’s not so great.
@sij+1arIhKLh
How about the frozen yogurt place at 3PM? Line still around the corner?
I’ve heard it’s gotten so bad people have stopped going to the gym during core business hours 😳
HQ has always been about self-promotion and visibility more than actual results. It’s just that the circlej—ing has been exposed in this last downturn and it runs so deep that nobody knows what to do about it.
Things are bad as well but seems like top people don’t care at all
Yes
Nope. Everything is okay. If you can’t hustle and work 100hours week, you don’t deserve to work with the best and brightest at ExxonMobil.
