Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Could you have done much better?

I was laid off recently and only now I'm beginning to see my own mistakes. I wasn’t expecting to get laid off. USB has had a lot of wrong moves and decisions, but still, I’m more angry at myself and my own decisions. I could have moved to another bank and I missed that opportunity because I felt comfortable and safe here. After that I had an ugly situation and I had the opportunity to leave again, but for some reason I thought I should stay loyal. All in all, I could have done a lot better, but because of my own decisions, I got into a stressful situation that I could have avoided.

I hope future perspective employees read here and understand what a poor company USB is. Staying loyal is a huge mistake at USB.

I can tell you without knowing a thing about who you are or what area you worked in that this was not your fault. This was a series of blunt, careless exercises to reduce cost. The company clearly did not deserve your loyalty, but that’s not your fault either. Be well.

These issues are NOT your fault. It's their fault.

Getting fired is when you screwed up.
Getting laid off is when your boss screwed up.

You got laid off. Your boss screwed up.

Don't look back. Waste of time. Only thing we can do here is say "We told you". And this goes to other readers who think they should "Stay loyal" to this toxic, wasteful organization.

Get yourself together, you will find a better place. Find recruiters in your network and engage with your network every day. And good luck.

Don't beat yourself up for choices you made in the past. This last year has been stressful beyond anyone's ability to predict and it is natural to desire comfort and safety. I had a false sense of security too and it took me by surprise. I am still feeling lost even though I'm relieved to be out of there. I am also grateful for time there and the many good people I worked with over the years.

Open your heart and spend time imagining how you would feel if you found your perfect livelihood. Keep taking yourself to that space and dwell on those wonderful feelings. This will make you magnetic to the Universe and you will manifest your dream job in no time.

Your title should day "Could I have done much better?" and don't look back. Take things as–is, grow and move on. This board has nothing on the other banks boards if you want to be honest.
