Vacation carryover policy changed

The vacation carryover policy was changed so you can only take 10 days forward unless you obtain approval from someone way high up in management. To make it worse they eliminated the continuous carryover option. All this while people are working so much due to cuts that they can’t even take vacation for risking being PIPd.

@1xuq – I am stating how the policy was applied in my department, in EMRE. The policy was fed down from the lab manager, to the department heads and their underlings. I’m not clueless and it seems like you’re just a troll trying to get me fired up. Well, it won’t work because it’s clear to me that I know what I’m talking about and you don’t.

This changed in 2019 and was reverted back in 2021. Just because you didn't pay attention to company policy doesn't mean the policy wasn't there.

The fact you use 2000 to 2020 as the years you have experienced not having the policy just points to how clueless you really are...

It may depend on the organization, but I worked for EMRE from 2000 to 2020 and for the last 10 years, my supervisors enforced a strict 10–day COV policy. If you wanted to carry over more than 10 days, it had to go to the EMRE president for approval and there had to be a business reason (e.g. refinery turnaround) for it. I don’t know of anyone who was able to use a business reason or of any supervisor who was prepared to send a request to Pisz, TJ or the current incumbent (WWE CEO). Even when the “authority” to grant COV was delegated to Team Leads, they were directed to tell employees that the 10–day limit was still in effect.

mo––n. All carryover days could be approved by the supervisor last year. My supervisor approved 25 days of a co–worker I knew. Previous years would not have been allowed (even though policy said you could request).

Not sure where you have been but you are wrong. I approved more than 10 days last year as a first line supervisor. You are wrong. Look it up on the HR page. The continuous carryover policy has changed. Do you even work at ExxonMobil?

Wrong. Supervisors were not empowered to grant more than 10 days carryover. Always took HQ approval, and such requests were not made or granted. Period. If you aren’t smart enough to know how to handle continuous carryover, well, that’s just sad for you. Tweet.

It hasn’t been this way for decades. They changed the approval level to supervisor a couple of years ago saying they were empowering and trusting employees and pushing decisions down and have now reverted back to the old way. It was part of the synergies reorg. The continuous carryover change is also new.

Probably in response to the December/Feb layoff where they had to pay 2019 carryover vacation, 2020 regular vacation, and 2021 vacation since everyone on garden leave was still technically employed on Jan 1 this year
