Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What are my options?

I am a fresh lead in my club and recently received a small inheritance that will allow me to continue college full time and finish within a year or so. Can anyone tell me what the process is when wanting to drop down to p/t status? Are there fewer responsibilities or more of the same? What about a reduction in pay? I’m just weighing my options on keeping it part time or quit working for a year to concentrate on my studies. Any advice is welcome.

I believe you lose your medical & dental, vision if you go under 28 hours. That's a big deal because if you have to pay for outside medical that get's real expensive ! But if 28 to 32 hrs. are low enough then yes get your degree and then find a better job!! Good Luck.

I recently did the same thing I was able to stay in my department but work part time with my availability being tues through Friday only and only available 4am to 130
It all depends on your manager because mine still gives me 28 to 32 hours as a part time associate
Good luck to you! And do what’s best for you!!

You will get a percentage cut like the other person said. So you won't be all the way down to $15 or whatever the pay is where you step down to. But if you have that opportunity, take it. Do not hesitate. Get your degree and do what you dream to do. Congratulations on the opportunity, but also condolences on your loss.

They'll force you to quit if you don't have open availability. Or else you'll only get 5 to 10 hours a week.

If you step down to level 2 position it’s a 5% pay cut anywhere else is 10% cut. Worth it for sure.

That is awesome that you have a great opportunity to finish school and that you are taking advantage if that. Inform your manager of your decision and provide them with your new availability. The problem is that you may not be able to stay in your current department which means you may need to put in for another area of the building that can accommodate your availability. Good luck!
