Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The competitors are getting stronger?

Does it seem to you too? If I were to go to a competing company, there I would find all the best people who worked here and who left (and are still leaving). One of the worst things that could have happened to Intel is to let those people go, because it is they who are now greatly contributing to the growth of competing companies.

In 15 years of my career at Intel, I was given VSP twice, yes, I made the mistake of coming back this one time....In the process my base pay jumped up by 450% and how can I forget the oh so sweet gift of severance packages. Now I am doing my life's work at...well I can't even call this company Intel's competitor anymore (way out of league)..but I have to say watching Intel waste away $$$$ in acquisitions to then ki-l its technology, hire empire building high $$$ paid lazy superfluous executives who's only strategy is to fire hard working ICs on the name of P&L and my favorite of course is selling the dream to trusting customers to only fall short EVERY FREAKING TIME! Great going Intel! Keep making the news!

Define “best”.

To the rest of the industry, the best are the capable, technically outstanding engineers.

At intel, the best are the sycophants, loudmouths, resume fakers, political operators and cousins for middle management to build their fiefdoms.

From a non technical perspective Intel just kept all the fake social justice warriors that maintain the highest grades and get by without actually doing anything.

Too many political figure heads who think they are entitled to promos. A lot of the hungry and competent sales, finance and supply chain folks have left to Amazon, Nvidia, etc.. especially younger folks.

Still it is a good paying company with good benefits...it is more about a lot of hard working smart folks leaving because they get passed up for promos for the wrong reasons.

It's a pattern of anticompetitive behavior that goes back to at least 2006ish, when they first hired Bain & Company for SET. The semiconductor industry is a small place and you can only create enemies in the job base for so long before it comes back to bite you.

The great “Burglar King” CEO BK did that in 2015. On the bright side, he was fired.

Some smart ones like me were VSP'ed/ISP'ed in 2015 and doing quite well 6 years later...my base salary is 50% higher that 2015. Go figure. Not that I want but I guess they could pay me another 20% to come back in this tight market? What foolish management

Helps when intel deliberately fired all the best technical people in the great political purge/petty empire consolidation of 2016
