I feel sorry for the new people

Training at Sam's has gone from decent to half–assed to nonexistent in the past decade. I look at some of the new folks as they wander around confused and having no idea what to do and how they're ignored by the people who should be helping them if not training them and I can't help but feel sorry for them. I help out when I can but I rarely find time for it. This is one of the main reason why so many people leave as fast as they join us and I really can't blame them.

The new people are starting at a rate of pay that is close to what it took me 26 years to get to. They need to actually pay attention to what they are being taught instead of being on their cell phones, maybe then the confused look will leave their faces. I for one have no sympathy for these newbies that want to get paid for doing as little as possible!

That’s the reason they don’t last, and all the favoritism between managers and associates

I remember. Ten years ago, there was a lot of training and people, who had the time, to show you how something was done. I was one of them. Help, showed, taught all the newbies. Not now.

And, frankly, I understand. I don't have time to train new people. Mostly newbies are a nuisance. I've only got so much time to complete my task, or I have to hear about how I need to manage my time. Heaven forbid I get five minutes of overtime. So, if I've told them once, that's it. Told them, not showed them. And I can't afford to care. I have my job to protect.
