Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Critical thinkers need not apply

Unless you're a yes–man you won't get ahead here. Disagreeing with anybody in the management even if you're right will only bring you grief and push your name closer to being added to the next list of cuts. New ideas are not only not welcomed, but they are usually mocked and ridiculed. Just do the things the same way they have been done for who knows how long even if the system/process is completely outdated and inefficient and you'll do just fine.

It's unfortunate because there are some really good people there but the CPO and Sum are so out of touch. They have created a hostile work environment for all, but no one can do anything about it. Incredibly sad that they have absolutely used up good people and thrown them away like garbage.

True that. The only reason there are 10 VPs for every 1 SVP is so SVPs can always scapegoat one or more VPs. Smart VPs just nod their heads like bobbleheads. How many VPs of inventory, In–Sourcing and other nonsensical ISC roles been fired over the past five years? And then the chief ISC dude who hired them all gets promoted? If you are creative, innovative, eager to explore new ideas, get out now.

Spot on! I've been watching a manager constantly attempt to dump his group's work on the other groups. He emails and pounds his chest in front of his director and then tries to blame everyone else for his group's incompetence.

Everyone but the Kool Aid drinkers feel this way. Wake up and smell the sewage you're shoveling. Retirments are happening at a break–neck pace. And the competent ones are going revcogs or getting out compeltely. This ship is slowly circling the bowl due to management's hubris and folly.

One has to laugh intensely at those who persist in ba––––g their heads against the wall on behalf of their corporation.

Too many babbling managers that have no concept of how to solve the problem, “Yes sir, we’ll fix it” then blame one of their subordinates for the unfeasible task in an unreasonable timeframe.

They hate to hear corrections, rather be lied to about how great their idea is because it’s too painful to their ego, voluntary ignorance

Agree, but when it comes to revenue, shipping a product out the door, boy does the critical thinking start. Anything goes to get some $$ booked. Any issues come up, well your gonna get blamed for it. No help, just push and blame.

Everyone, managers included, are trying to dodge bullets. Don't want to risk getting drawn into any new issues because the Honeywell corporate philosophy is – we have great systems, nothing can be wrong with them so it must be a person is to blame for not doing their defined tasks. So everyone trying to dodge getting blamed for any issue. Also, if you get involved and start talking suddenly you own it and no one looking for extra work. We are a company of siloed pushers. Send an email, get your issue solved. Issue not solved, blame the guy you sent the email to.

I agree to some extend. Since the time I joined, I have only cared about doing good work in collaboration with like–minded colleagues and went beyond my role and responsibilities (I never cared for my job). Occasionally I had to push back manager/challenge them in order to get things done. In the past 10 years of my professional career (elsewhere), I never felt this kind of resistance, pushback, politics from managers (who claim to have expertise but when you peel the layer it’s all fluffy). I feel so tired with this resistance and finally decided to leave. I will cherish my time at HW due to great colleagues that I have had the opportunity to work with. I also learned how to push the needle against resistance, which I will use in my career. All the best to HW and my colleagues.

Yes, especially if you are in Aero –– no sense in trying to beat a dead horse!

As Dairya$$ has stated, if it ain't software it ain't sh–t. As if we needed further proof, today's quarterly results made no mention of Aero...
