Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stores are not a safe place to be right now

First of all let me say that I’m not somebody who advocates store closures, lockdowns, sales going totally online, or whatever. We have to go to work, the economy has to function, so does the company and there is nothing we can do about it.
On the other hand, if something can be done to ensure the safety of store employees it should be done, Even if that means losing a customer or two. I think I don’t have to mention particulars that the safety protocols are a joke. Two of my colleagues got infected with COVID from a customer. Our manager insists that we make contact with the customers. Don’t mean to be pathetic but it comes down to that a human life is worth to the company about as much as the price of a new iPhone.

Why do we have to be so mean spirited when it comes to Covid.
Yes there is a high recovery rate.
Yes get the vaccine if you choose as your mechanism to help protect yourself.

Let's not negate the fact though that the vaccine doesn't prevent you from being a carrier nor doest it prevent you from still getting Covid.
I have 2 family members in the hospital right now with Covid Pneumonia that were vaccinated. Both are elderly and caught it from other family members who were vaccinated carriers. One additional young and healthy unvaccinated also got it and the impact on him were way worst than the elderly.

Let's also not be ignorant that the longterm of affects of having covid are now in the initial stages of being seen. Time will hopefully give us even more data from which hopefully people will respect what Covid does to the human body.

Let's not just respond glibly when folks present their fears. There is no perfect answer that will ever satisfy everyone but respect what the impact of this Virus is to human life. That's all we really have, our life.

Go get a vaccine if you are so scared. HR will give you 4 hours off so having to work isn't an excuse.

Here I'm thinking of safety for actual safety reasons with irate customers, vi–––––e, et al..., but the OP is talking about a virus with a 99.98 survival rate, and that's without the vaccine. What a joker.

I advocate store closures. Retail is too expensive and too much liability.

If they haven’t gotten their covid shot(s) yet, that is on them. It’s not January.

Get a shot you can’t catch or give away COVID people wearing masks with the jab are not science followers.

Same with people that have had it.

See problem solved.

To much over thinking

Everyone has the ability now to both help protect themselves & help slow down the spread, get vaccinated. The onus has moved from the company, when there was no protect available, to the employee to protect themselves.
