Internal Job Postings are a JOKE

These positions are usually already filled before they are posted. Been to 2 interviews where right off the bat, the hiring manager says that they already have someone in their org that they are planning to hire but this is an HR checkbox. Didn't even get to interview for it, although they made me walk through my qualifications etc.

While I appreciate the transparency, merit and hard work and credentials will get you NOWHERE in BAC. It is all about who you know and who you are buddies with.

Don’t do what @8daq+1az0Jd6O recommends. Everyone recognizes that for what it is. Be genuine and get to know people. Volunteer, join groups, create relationships organically.

This is why you have to network, schmooze and kiss a** every day, even internally. Most openings are filled before HR can even complete the paperwork to post.

if you want to remain the company, but get a new role, then dedicate one day per week to reaching out on the pretense of "informational/exploratory meetings", where you spend 15-45 minutes asking the person about the work their team does, complimenting their AMAZING leadership skills and expressing a desire to work for them.

Guarantee they will think of you next opening they hear about (on their team or a fellow manager's group). Wash, rinse, repeat. May take 1-4 months, but it works!

Good jobs are definitely hard to come by and will be filled quicker by insiders. It’s easy to figure it out after the fact who these guys are and who they know, just by looking how they interact with the bosses. Eventually they slip up and drop the name.

I agree withe the poster below. I once I got a job with a previous guy who laid me off and decided to hire me at a different company. The interview was a formality over lunch. Since that day, I have an affinity for calzone and chiati. Vaffanculo or from the bottom of my heart, to all of you, Va’ a farti fottere.

Welcome to every job in the country? Known quantities will always have the upper hand over someone who looks amazing on paper, and may in fact BE amazing, but isn't 'known' to be so by the hiring manager.

This is why networking is SO important.
