I absolutely agree with the person who said that solid quarterly results do not mean that there will be no layoffs at all, but that there could be, given that their intention is certainly to record a good next quarter as well. Still, so far I’ve been anxious all the time thinking they can let me know about being laid off every day, but now I’ve simply stopped worrying. I try not to even think about the layoffs anymore.

So AT&T is able to do its work even with all those layoffs. Wow, great job. Stankey doing a heck of a job.
They’ve already started the usual July/august project budget cuts in April.
My guess would be if it's gonna be this year, then bargained for people will be impacted since they have to wait til year end to see what the management headcount reduction will be.

When you are getting laid off, your mind just comes up with these crazy conspiracies about the layoffs. It's not personal. It's just adjustments needed to run a company and pay everyone else. Just business.
My boss said there will be layoffs soon (Chow's organization). Asked who was up for voluntary retirement as was hopeful it could cover the numbers needing to be cut.
They lay off people because they want the bottom line to look ever increasingly better and buy back stock to financially engineer the EPS. They do not lay off because of lack of need to complete work. All lay pff numbers come from the top down not from the workload up.
Nahhh, ssim techs dont worry about layoffs at all. Heck they get worried about hiring too many people and the breakroom being crowded all day and all the napping couches being occupied. The more people in the group the more important you look, workload volume doesn’t matter.
AT&T is a no nonsense company. Sometimes there needs to be workforce adjustment to keep the company going well. Even if it hurts a few feelings.

Not only is there more than enough work to do, there has been since before T took over DTV -- yet every year about 10K jobs were eliminated. Meanwhile, dolts like you continue to buy that nonsense. I bet you also think last year's election was stolen, and you believe in Q.

If there is no work, they won't need workers. Nobody wants to pay workers to do nothing.
