Forcing everyone back in the office full time... I’m quitting

We are very much still in the middle of a pandemic regardless of what Fox News wants you to think. Houston is home to every variation of COVID–19 that exist. The only reason I was OK returning to the office was the alternating schedule. Well, starting May 17, we won’t even be alternating. This company never fails to show us that they only value business and have no regard for our lives or humanity. It is not safe to force for capacity in a building when you can easily work from home. I will be finding another job and I suggest that you do the same because this complete disregard for human life and health because of “business results” aka managements careless decisions that don’t work out that somehow are our fault since were working from home. If I wasn’t sure about leaving... I’m definitely out the door now. Sayonara

You think it is just the pumpers who have been working at the field offices? The engineers have been in the office and field as well per normal. So have the engineering techs and admins. The whole damn business unit. So don’t give me your crying Houston. Get back to work. You will be fine. We’ve proved it at our field offices already.

Are you kidding me Houston? Come on out to the field. Ever been under a flare when liquids get pushed out the top. That will raise your pucker factor up a notch or two. Get over yourselves. And quit wasting time starting every meeting with a safety moment talking about your commute and the bad drivers or how to use hand sanitizer properly.

If you want to make this decision, everyone should have a desk.
Be a big boy and let everyone sit on their own desks.

Or people will be at the cafeteria working? What type of contribution will this bring?

Let's all calm down a bit here. If you are scared of going to work due to COVID than you should probably just get on disability because clearly you are re--rded. Get the shot and go back to your cubicle. You clearly can't do your job from your house. When guys in the field have to take time out if their day so you can tell them sh-t they already know over a terrible zoom connection it accomplishes nothing. We understand you want to use that beach photo as your zoom background from the time you and your disappointed spouse went on an all inclusive Cancun vacation. But in all honesty your meetings are just a way for you to feel like you are doing something. Now let's set up a call to discuss the meeting so we can relay to the field guys the exact wrong way to do things.

Why do people think there is no value in professionals working together in the office. That is the best way to communicate and build a culture based upon real human interaction. Be grateful that your company is just jumping to the way things will end up eventually for most companies. The other companies doing these hybrid office/home models are not telling the workforce that the proposed hybrid plan will evolve into the pre-covid work schedule by this time next year. Workers are really trusting and quite stupid to think they will get their way.

It’s weird for people in the field to be upset at people in the office for wanting to work virtually. It’s not our fault you picked a job that requires you to do it physically rather than mentally. And suggesting to get rid of all corporate people is only a sign that you have no idea how business is actually works because you wouldn’t have a job if the corporate side of things was not handled.

Wow. Just heard that your company is forcing everyone back to the office soon. That is the best news I have heard in a long time. It is about time that CEOs take back control from you whining millennials and generation xers or whatever you call yourselves. How the he-l did you think you could continue being lazy good for nothing bums after Covid is over. If you don’t like it than quit and go to some of these other companies that are run by a bunch of know nothing pu----s.

Operations personnel have been automated for a long time.
Took a while to learn to spell and still forming early 'logic' connections.
But they'll get there.
Thanks Elon and Friends.

I haven’t taken vacation in two years got a 30% pay cut been in the field the entire time never missed a day for “COVID” and some of you have the audacity to cry that you have to go back to “work” are you kidding me people have been laid off people, people have had there pay cut 30% (West Texas employees) and you sit at home crying about actually having to go back to the office. You all are the most useless part of this entire company. You are the reason this company is failing every engineer every business development personal that have never questioned anything and have been nothing but “Yes Men” that have produced no actual results you all need to quit.

The best solution is to layoff everyone in the offices - they are useless anyway (working on power points and some theoretical non$ense). That will stop all the cribbing. Just keep the operating units and its staff. No need for corporate overhead.

If our office jobs can be performed in Argentina, Brazil and Malaysia… There’s no reason for anyone with an office job to be forced back into the office. It’s an unnecessary health risk for the company that has meetings to tell you to hold the handrail one going down the steps. It couldn’t be more hypocritical.

"Milking it" is not quite accurate. The CDC is still saying that all vaccinated and unvaccinated people should still wear masks indoors.

By mid May every adult should have had a chance to be vaccinated. It’s time to get back to the office in Houston; it’s a tiny bit embarrassing how some folks have been milking this.

Grow up Houston. Those of us in the field have been working every day. Including office staff. Guess what? No more cases than the general population. You probably want kids to stay home from school forever too even though schools that have returned are just fine.

@bvj+1azPaNx2

Enough you frightened sheep, enough.

The mortality rate for reasonably healthy individuals under age 60 who are fully vaccinated is incredibly small. Much smaller than everyday common risks such as driving. You are more likely to die choking on your own food or crossing the street. Plus, many studies prove that people’s homes are among the most contaminated environments for Covid because they are impossible to clean (air ducts and other inaccessible places). You are no more safe at home than most other places.

If you want to cower in fear for the rest of your miserable life, fine. Just don’t expect an employer to pay you. Scare tactics don’t work anymore. People are fed up with the cowardly sheep and will not cater to you any longer.

This is the same company and same managers, executives and supervisors who would sit and tout that safety is everything when the big bosses from top said so few years back.

I am simply disgusted with how fake each and everyone in this company is. Disgusting humans and liars all around us who just know how to lick boots.

They can get rid of 50% of the desk population and the company would be fine. High salary, many management layers and too many employees.

Read the FAQ link at bottom of email. They are squeezing people in campus wherever they can. People will be assigned to huddle rooms and nearly all open workstations are first come first serve. Sounds like we will still have to abide with 1x open workstations only 50% full to social distance.

Yes, starting May 17, every Houston area facility employee is going to be required to be in the office full–time meaning 100% capacity.

If you id--ts actually showed up to the office 2-3 times/week we could of possibly had hybrid forever.

But whaaa muh safety, I won’t go to the office for a full year but will still travel, hang with friends and go shopping. People pay attention in calls when they ask how your weekend was btw.

I am little unclear – starting May 17 is everyone expected to be in office and be socially distant? Those two seem contradictory. Can someone help interpret what’s being asked? Any Mgrs here since they usually get a heads–up
