Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Smaller distance but lower pay?

When people started talking about returning to the office, I started looking for a new job.
That’s not the only reason, but it may have been crucial, as more than an hour and a half to work was total waste and was exhausting me to the max.
Now I got a good offer and a new job would be only 15 minutes away from me and that's great, but the pay is maybe 7-8 percent lower. I'm very hesitant. Nike, though, bored me a bit.
This is my individual problem and it is not something that most people in this company encounter, but I am interested in how much lower pay would you agree to if you were offered a closer job?

Move to the Vancouver, WA area and find a job there. No income tax, so even if you're getting paid the same as Nike, you're actually getting a ~10% raise. I'm surprised more companies aren't moving across the river since the tax situation and real estate are much more favorable to prospective employees. You just have to deal with the white supremacists and me-h addicts. Hopefully they'll all be gentrified out soon.

OP, can you live comfortably with the reduction of about 8%? Will the new job make you happier? Is the environment more stable? Only you would know. Best of luck.

Easy solution. Figure out your hourly rate at old job adding your commute to your hours. Then do same for new role

Example. $5000 / week at 40 hours +10 hours commute = 100 / hour

New role $4600 /40 hours +2 commute = 109
