Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

I would love to work for big oil company

I would love to work for big oil company like cenovus. I hear these oil companies pay huge salaries. I have a family member who works for an oil major in Calgary, and he makes very good money as opposed to public sector.

Have you tried picking bottles out of the ditch ? It's more rewarding than working here

The list of failed O&G companies in Alberta is very long, and being a major one is no guarantee of longevity. Eventually the egos and greed of the execs ki-l all these companies.

The golden days of oil in Alberta are long past.

Did you get paid by Cenovus to start this thread?

I didn’t mean to say cenovus specifically. There is prestige working for an oil major. Maybe my head is stuck in 2007. I tried couple times to get a job with the oil majors. They seem to hire either right out of university, or with 15+ years experience. Public sector experience no good for oil.

Why would you work in a dying industry in AB? If you still want to work in O&G, try in a company with better leadership and future, anything is better than Cenovus

Easy to say ‘try something different and be happy’

Try another company besides here

Pay cuts and constant layoffs, oh, and you could be skidded any time for any reason. Your performance is irrelevant
