I know people who are way too emotionally invested in Cisco and I can't understand why. The company has proven over and over again that it doesn't give a rat's a-s about you, so why would you care or worry about what's happening with the company? Do your job, get paid, rinse and repeat. If those on top don't care we're sinking, neither should you.

Pre-Covid I used to see people walking around the Great Mall near the San Jose campus with their Cisco badges clipped to their shirts and waistbands...on the weekends. Lol
It’s like a cult that becomes some ppls identities.
There are some people who simply need the perceived emotional stability of being "on the team." Unfortunately for them, Cisco knows this and plays along with the People Deal until the day they lay the employees off.
Rule number 1. Look after yourself and your friends and loved ones.
Rule number 2. You are a number on a spreadsheet, no matter how special you feel you are, no matter that you made Chairman's club last year. You can be chopped off at any point and evetually you WILL be, "Cisco family" or not. Everyone is always at risk at Cisco.
Rule number 3. Wise people understand rules 1 and 2 and act accordingly. Loyalty is a two way street.
"The reason is total lack of accountability at Cisco. When Robbins gives a $19M blank check to MM before she proves she’s worth a tenth of that amount, that’s messed up. She fails?"
CR gave MM a $19M to cut costs and send CX jobs to countries without labor laws. She was very successful in those goals. The Board of Directors and ELT only care about cost cutting... not the customer experience
“This is exactly why Cisco has no cloud or enterprise software products. We have a 1970's Soviet Union culture at HQ in San Jose. Too many dullards hiding or politicians "managing up" “
No, that isn’t the reason. The reason is total lack of accountability at Cisco. When Robbins gives a $19M blank check to MM before she proves she’s worth a tenth of that amount, that’s messed up. She fails? Big deal, she’s already pocketed more than anybody on this forum will make in a lifetime. The culture needs a kick in the bu-t to change Cisco in an innovation center. The current culture does not encourage risk taking.
I think that’s sound advice in general anyway. Care about your job, do what’s right, but don’t get emotionally attached to the company you work for unless you started it. At the end of the day, we’re all disposable resources and nothing lasts forever. Ask the folks at Lehman Brothers or Nortel.
"Kick back, tune out, and collect those paychecks. I'm proud to say that I got much, much, much more out of Cisco than they got out of me."

I agree 100%, may be 99%. Only part different for me is I do not feel I stole anything. Just replace 'stole' by 'earned' and that is my experience with Cisco.
This advice is spot on.
I have always browsed this site for entertainment purposes and it is clear to me that the majority of the posters here are invested WAY too much in Cisco. Kick back, tune out, and collect those paychecks. I'm proud to say that I got much, much, much more out of Cisco than they got out of me.
Every penny that is sitting in my various investment vehicles is a penny that I stole from the company.
