Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Better companies in this industry?

Of course, Chevron has a lot of things that need to be fixed. However, we should be realistic, there is no company in which there are no problems and in which all employees are doing great. I used to work for only one company from this industry before Chevron and I am much better off here. If nothing else, I’m better paid. When I listen to some friends from other companies in OG, I get the impression that it is best for me personally to stay at Chevron because I would not be better off anywhere else in this industry. I would like to hear who would now go to another company in OG and because of what comparative advantages of that company?

Back in 2010, every employee received a $50,000 car or $35,000 in cash for reaching the previous five-year goals, according to Fortune, which named the company one of the "Best Workplaces for Diversity" for 2015. Over the summer, Fortune named Hilcorp one of the "Best Workplaces for Millennials," and the company ranked No. 20 on Fortune's overall "Best Companies to Work For" list.

I left a major 3 years ago to go work with a mid-major. Reasons were to work in environment with colleagues I respected and to be recognized for what I could deliver. No regrets. Initially there was about a 20 percent pay cut but that has evened out and most importantly I look forward to going to work. Also, I think the future looks much brighter. Social and and environmental politics are destroying the capabilities of the the majors from both the outside and from within. A situation that honestly saddens me to see.

The greatest advantage in Chevron is who's D ur going to Sk and it goes a long wayyyyy. They promote managers with little to no knowledge of the subject matter but if you look good ur in!!! Fk ur 20 years...they are not looking for real talent they are looking for kids that make them look relevant.

Still waiting on an example of a "better company" in the same industry as CVX, the Oil and Gas industry. That was the OP topic.

Only issue is SpaceX is a company which survives on NASA contract i.e. taxpayers' money. It is still losing money, whereas we have to show some profit for the work that we do. Same with Tesla, without government subsidy (green) it will not survive. Btw, SpaceX is a huge promoter of Pride. https://i.imgur.com/uPy4oTh.jpg

Sorry to burst your bubble. If you look down on the alternative energy, government assistance, and woke culture that much, may be you should try with Boeing or Northrop but they are not hiring.

Advantages:

  • higher pay and better benefits, just as flexible work policy and no vaccination/mask dramas
  • less BS
  • no colorful flags to greet I mean distract you
  • less process and bureaucracy
  • no nepotism and favoritism
  • I can add value each day and get things done efficiently
  • no trendy initiatives (woke, digital, alternate energy, etc)
  • better leadership capable of good decision making who drives accountability and delivers results and overall management support

Just to name a few. Do I need to continue?

I work at SpaceX now down in South Texas and Austin. The grass is not greener in the other side BUT, man I am so glad to move away from that sick woke and liberal culture. Do they still have the g-y flags between the 1500 & 1440 circle buildings? I don't CVX miss it a bit for sure.
