Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

RemotePC is being retired

Got an email from my manager that RemotePC is being retired this year. I think the bank wants everyone to be working on a bank-issued laptop. Do you think this might indicated a permanent work-from-home situation?

You mentioned you/your area has been called back into the office. Can you share what state you are located and what type of work you do? Did you attest that you received a vaccine for HR purposes?

We’ve already started being called in ugh. I wrote in my survey for this year, that flexibility is imperfect and that we should all be able to work part-time from home. The idea we need to be in the office 5 days a week to get things done has already been proven wrong. I also find it so funny that the people most amped to be back in the office are those that have more flexibility anyway. Ridiculous.

RemotePC is just one product where you could connect to a specific PC in the office.
You can still use VPN or HVD for remote access, neither of which are going away.

A year ago when they sent us to WFH the first one out the door were the people who were willing to use their own computers. I had to wait for a piece of cr-p Chrome Book. No way was I going to give the Bank access to my personal computer. Does it sound like I don't trust them? No I dont.

Non-BAC user PCs are allowed into the BAC network? Really? I used BAC computers via VPN for years, but not a foreign computer.

Agree they want all of us back in the office.
That said, who is still using RemotePC??

I've worked from home on a bank-banded laptop for 10+ years (ok, 3 PCs as they issued new ones when the leases were up).

Deciding whether I want to go along with this "return to office" garbage or request severance and call it a wrap.

So stupid to push customers out of the FCs, while making all of us RTO.

Can't make this stuff up!

I don't understand why the bank spent so much money for all those laptops. Even the head honcho, big cheese Brian M said we are a work in the office company. And as I've been told many times by my management team there is no permanent WFH posture in the fraud department. I wonder if the expectations are after we are back in the office we take the laptop home everyday. Some of us got laptop bags when we got our laptops some didn't.
